Giving back to the community where we skate is a core value of our team. As part of our commitment to keeping our city beautiful, we have adopted the street nearest to our home rink and we will regularly work to help maintain and improve the area for everyone to enjoy.

We had an awesome day finishing up the 2025/2026 Florida Speed League yesterday. This season has been awesome. Our skaters have learned so much, and are becoming great speed skaters. We’re looking forward to next season, already. Let’s go Astro 🛼🏁🥇!

On behalf of Astro Speed Team and Head Coach Brian Perry, we would like to announce 📣 a great addition to our coaching staff. Assistant Coach Andy Lane. 🛼🥇🏁

Andy Lane began inline speed skating at the age of 7 in Kent/Tallmadge, Ohio, training under Marvin Cottrell and Gary Haney. By age 10, he had started competing and quickly developed a passion for the sport. In 1994, his family relocated to Delaware, where he skated for the Dover Flyers under coach Virgil Dooley. During his competitive years, Andy earned multiple accomplishments including becoming a two-time regional champion and competing at several Indoor National Championships in Fresno, California; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Pensacola, Florida, as well as Outdoor Nationals in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In 1997, Andy returned to Ohio and continued skating competitively with the Buckeyes Speed Team in Lorain under coach Johnny Tanner until 1999. After stepping away from the sport for many years, he moved to Florida in 2015 and eventually reconnected with skating through visits to Astro Skate in Pinellas Park. In October 2025, Andy met Astro Speed Team coach Brian Perry, which reignited his passion for speed skating. Since then, he has been actively training and coaching alongside Brian and recently earned his USA Roller Sports Level 1 Registered Speed Skating Coach’s Card.
