Kart Racing at Any Level

The mission of DL Racing is to help aspiring kart drivers, young and old, recreational or professional, achieve their individual kart racing goals. Kart racing is generally accepted as the most economic form of motorsport available on four wheels. It can be performed by almost anybody at just about any age, and is a sensible introduction into competitive motorsports. It

prepares the driver for high-speed wheel-to-wheel racing by helping develop quick reflexes, precision car control, and decision-making skills. With different classes, 5-7 year olds can enter in karts that top out at about 30 mph. 7-11 year olds step up to karts reaching speeds of about 50 mph. 12-15 year olds are placed in full sized karts equipped with 100–125cc engines that will reach about 78 mph. More advanced classes have higher top speeds and accommodate age and body type. A Kart with a 125cc 2-stroke engine and a Touch-and-Go (TaG) automatic transmission has an overall weight of 175-200 pounds without the driver. The TaG has a top speed of 87 mph, will do 0-60 in about 4-5 seconds and pull 3-4 g's through the corners. It takes just over 3 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph with a 125cc shifter kart (6 gears), reaching a top speed of 115 mph on long circuits.
