I see a lot of videos of coaches throwing unbelievably slow to their hitters. That’s great when fine tuning the details.

But if your a** got a healthy arm, let that thing rip. It’s the best way for the players to get game related reps as possible.

Machine is great, toss is great, but if you’re able to get an arm in there, let it fly.

I do the same thing for my softball players. Still working on the delivery but I sling it from a distance lol. Im only 31 so gonna run my arm till the wheels fall off then learn to throw lefty.

Are there any HK students looking for a laptop? I have a ā€œLenovo Chromebook IdeaPad 3ā€ brand spanking new that I bought for a project. Ended up not using it.

I’m selling for $100. It costs like $250 online. No laptop place is taking it because it’s not a Mac or Windows. So I figured maybe a HK kid needs one.

It’s literally brand new. Plus y’all know me, why would I scam you šŸ˜‚. Let me know. Send me a message or text

Baylen and Ryan tag team the hitting lessons every week. I know 1 on 1 sessions are great but if you’re at a point where you want to start challenging your hitting, increase your volume of work and want to VIBE! Sign up for a shared or small group hitting. I’m doing a lot of these recently with multiple groups.

As you see, there isn’t a ā€œdown periodā€ where the players sit and do nothing. We stay active.

Baylen and Ryan working on inside pitches and pulling. Feeling aggressive rotational force, true bottom hand extension and staying inside the ball.

A lot of hitters spend their time chasing the perfect swing. The better goal? Minimize your misses and maximize your barrel opportunities.

It starts with the first move. A cleaner, more efficient move puts the body in a better position to adjust, and make decisions later in the swing.

The hitters who consistently produce aren’t the ones who need everything to be perfect, they’re the ones who can capitalize on healthier B swings

A good first move creates more room for error, more adjustability, and more barrels.

Hitting is a roller coaster ride. These past few months I’ve had some hot hitters get a little cold, and some cold hitters start heating up but also have the consistent warriors who stay chipping.

One thing is for certain, to be a consistent hitter, you can’t have the standard of always batting 3 for 3 in a game or 8-10 in a weekend. Too many times when a hitter does that, they get told to ā€œdo it again next weekendā€ or ā€œhit like that all the timeā€ when in reality it’s close to impossible. Then when that same hitter goes 0-3 in a game or 2-10 in a weekend, it’s chaos and panic mode. Time to change things up. Get a new load. Etc etc

A consistent hitter gets their 3-3 games but also has their 0-3 games. But what matters is the games IN BETWEEN those performances. Whats the opinion on a 1-3 day with a walk? Or a 0-2 day with 2 walks. Or 0-1 with 2 sac flys? If your standard is to always ā€œstay hotā€ going 2-3 or 3-3 every single game then you’ll consistently be let down and consistently battling slumps.

Praise the 4-4 days or the .700 weekend batting averages. Congrats! Don’t be aggressively negative on a 0-3 game or .250 average weekend. ITS NORMAL. And don’t downgrade productive performances like a 1-3 day or a .350 /.400 weekend average as ā€œan ok weekend.ā€ Did you do your job? Did you help the team win? Did you have productive at bats?

The only time we need to seriously rethink our mechanics/approach is when you finish a 25 game season around .250 or go on a 2-20 dry spell.

Stop degrading normal performances, stop making amazing performances the standard, stop making a ā€œcoldā€ weekend a big deal. The second we start doing that, we got the ā€œmentalā€ hitter on our hands

In hitting, an A-to-B attack with the hands means your hands move on a direct path from their launch position (Point A) to the contact point (Point B) instead of making a big loop.

* Point A: Where the hands are when the swing starts.
* Point B: The contact point.
* The hands take the shortest, most efficient route between those two points.

Dear Ground,

I know everyone watches the bat.

They watch the barrel fly through the zone, they watch the ball jump off the bat, and they talk about hand speed, exit velocity, and launch angle.

But they don’t talk about you enough.

You’re the first thing I connect with before I connect with the baseball.

You hold me when I load.

You push me when I move.

You catch my force and give it back to me.

The harder I learn to use you, the less I have to force everything else.

You taught me that power isn’t just about strength, it’s about leverage.

You taught me that balance isn’t standing still, it’s being able to move with intent.

So while everyone else falls in love with the swing, I’ll keep falling in love with the foundation beneath it.

Because the ball doesn’t care how strong my hands are.

It cares how well I use the force you give me.

With love, Coach Alex
