Ride Fit Wyoming

Ride Fit Wyoming Western Lifestyle Fitness. Wyoming ACE certified fitness instructor and barrel racer. Hey friends! I live in the beautiful cowboy state of Wyoming.

I'm ACE certified and work as a fitness instructor. My true passion is working my horses and barrel racing. I love horses and I love working out. It's so rewarding to see the progress in the horses we work with and train/compete on and the same when you make that life change and start working out and getting fit. My husband and kids also ride. We enjoy woking together and improving our skills and

knowledge. I was about 40lbs over weight and I didn't realize the affect it had on my riding also, I hurt my back and pulled my groin all while I was riding. I then decided it was time to make some changes to my life. After losing the weight and gaining muscle I notice a huge change in the way I rode being more balanced, flexible, and had less injuries. Let me help you on that journey to being healthy and riding strong!

Welcome April!! Spring time is core fitness time 💕

Why should you strengthen your core muscles?

* improve your balance and stability which will boost your performance

* Support Proper Form, improves posture, and improvs breath control

* Boosts Muscular Efficiency and Control along with reduced back pain

Bottom line is that strong core muscles make it easier to do most physical activities and prevents Injury!

March is all about that bass! 🍑
Yup, that’s means lower body leg workouts are the focus.

Now I know everyone wants a nice A** but that’s not the only reason we do leg day! Think about the strength it takes from your legs to support and stabilize your seat when you ride.

- Your glutes control your legs, the side of the pelvis contract to push and help core muscles.
- when your glute med. & max are working correctly will follow your horse better
- pelvis works with your seat bone and attach to the hamstrings/ hip flexors on top and go down
- Adductors AKA the groin which is the most common strain so strengthen these muscles are a priority for me

**Stay tuned for leg workout exercises**

February challenge!
Winter time blues and how to survive

As an equestrian winter time can be tough, especially when the temp
rarely gets above 0 degrees. It has been freezing and I literally spent the entire week inside curled up with a blanket in total hibernation mode. Even when I’m not snowed in and I’m able to make it to the indoor to ride I’m losing feeling in my toes 🤣. So when I am stuck indoors, I’m watching my riding videos from summer. Analyzing what I could do better when I finally could get on my horse. These Winter Blues are common I wanted to give you my top three activities that I do in winter when I can’t ride.
• Pilates
We all have asymmetries in our bodies. And if we can’t sit even and straight on our horse, how can we expect them to carry us effectively? Pilates is a great way to improve your core, coordination, and proprioception. Take the 30-40 minutes you’d be riding and do a Pilates class (preferably mine)
* Education
Say you spend 30-40 minutes each day riding, if you can’t ride spend that time reading a book, listening to a theory podcast, or watch a training video to improve your knowledge for riding later.
* Groundwork and bonding
try some simple groundwork exercises that can be accomplished in a smaller space. My favorite is the poll release exercise or a variation on simple bending. Even just brushing and giving treats will help my mental state

Wow how is January already over! So how did you do? No sugar? No alcohol? I do enjoy this challenge. It’s such a good detox to kickstart the new year. Let’s get ready for February and beating the winter time blues.
