Today my heart is so full.
For over 25 years, I have had the privilege of teaching dance in South Florida. During that time, I have watched the dance world change in so many ways. There is so much excitement and attention placed on competitions, titles, scholarships, and awards that sometimes we forget where it all begins.
Today was a beautiful reminder.
As I watched our Studio Program dancers take the stage, from our tiniest dancers taking their very first steps under the lights to the teenagers who simply decided one day to try something new, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride. Every dancer mattered. Every performance mattered. Every child had a story.
What many people see as a recital, I see as the roots of something much bigger.
Half of our graduating seniors this season first walked into my classroom when they were only three, four, five, or six years old. I have watched them grow from baby ballerinas into incredible young adults. I’ve celebrated their victories, supported them through challenges, and had the honor of watching them discover who they are.
Every year it gets a little harder to watch those students grow up and move on. But at the same time, I find myself excited as I look at the next generation waiting in the wings.
Today I watched future MDC leaders, artists, and dreamers take flight.
Getting to watch children grow up through dance is not something I take lightly. It is one of the greatest gifts of my life, and I am so grateful to every family who trusts us with their children.
The roots are strong. The future is bright. 💙 Bravo to our studio program dancers.
