The US is FINALLY getting a women’s professional baseball league 🇺🇸⚾️
The “Women’s Pro Baseball League” (creative name, eh?!) will launch in 2026 with six teams based in the Northeast (specific locations have yet to be announced).
It’s co-founded by Justine Siegal — who became the first woman to coach professional men’s baseball when she joined the A’s organization in 2015. Siegal is also the founder of Baseball For All, a nonprofit that helps girls play and coach baseball across the country 🥰
The WPBL is currently working on securing a national broadcast deal for its inaugural season, as well as recruiting players to fill its six teams.
No state currently offers girls baseball as a high school sport, BUT 1,372 high school girls play on BOYS teams across America 👏🏽
Can’t wait for them to once again have A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN 💙
