The Stormchasers battled not only their opponents, but at times what felt like themselves this weekend. Finishing 1–2, they walked away with a few lessons learned… well, hopefully.
Game one brought a tough matchup against the Knoxville Stars, a team that apparently had a GPS locked onto every open patch of grass on the field. It didn’t matter if the defense shifted left, right, up, or back, they were going to find the gap like it owed them money. The boys stayed gritty and never quit, but came up short in a hard fought game.
They shook it off and rolled into game two with fresh eyes, and finally things clicked. The bats came alive, teammates were moving along the bases, mostly as intended, and the Stormchasers locked in a solid win.
Over the course of the weekend, though, all eyes kept drifting to the outfield, and for good reason. #17 Parker Halgren was everywhere. Left, right, in front, over his head, it didn’t matter. If it was in the air, Parker had plans for it. His cat like reflexes shut down more than a few scoring opportunities and kept the team in the fight.
And just in case that wasn’t enough, he decided to contribute a little everywhere else too, taking the mound, swinging the bat, and doing damage wherever he was needed. A true utility player in every sense. Through it all, Parker kept his signature calm, cool, and collected demeanor. No panic, no cracks, just steady as a rock.
Well earned Tournament Hammer. No debate there.
Huge shoutout as well to Hudson Collins and Timmy Worley for stepping in and helping out while we were short handed. We appreciate you guys jumping in and rolling with us this weekend!
