Just finished up the BI group and like always fun was had by all. Thursday we spent the day fishing on Oahe primarily in the Cheyenne and and creek arms north of the Cheyenne river. Fishing was a lot slower for is than what it has been but between all 4 boats we were able to get the guys and girls there limit for the day with 1 northern and some smallmouth bass. Big walleye for the day was a 21incher caught by Jill Johnson on a plain hook and leech in 15 fow. The majority of the boats caught there fish on livebait rigs in 8 to 14 fow on leeches, minnows and worms. Travor Diegel caught some fishing cranking 6 to 10 fow with berkley flicker shads and flicker minnows. Friday we only fished 3 hours so they could get on the road back home. So we took them down to westbend which put them a hour closer to home. All 3 boats caught a pile of walleyes but with the 15inch size regulation we were only able to keep 30 walleyes for the day. All these fish came out of 8 to 16 fow livebaiting. I was pulling berkley gulp crawlers watermelon pearl and chartreuse 4in in size in my boat and was crushing them. It seemed like we were getting more keepers on average with the gulp. I want to give a Special thanks to Boehringer Ingelheim to bringing there customers out to steffen bros. for these annual fishing retreats. I truely appreciate the businesss and will see you in sept.
