I'd like to give a big thank you to the Eureka archery Club and Wrathnak Archery and Range AND The Greenwood County Sheriff's Department for hosting the the Bicycle Safety Clinic this evening! We even managed to get the Sheriff and officer Mettling on the 1965 De Luxe Schwinn Sting-Ray!! Thank you for having us!

"I dub thee, Hillbilly De Luxe" I'm calling this 1965 De Luxe Stingray done for now! As you can see in earlier posts, this bike was once painted John Deere green by a previous owner who took the bike apart, painted it and then never put it back together.. It currently has an incorrect rear wheel while the OG two speed kickback S2 wheel is waiting to get worked on. This bike will some day be closer to period correct, it was just so dang cool looking that I had to throw some stuff on it and rip it! 😂 . After a number of hours and a little graffiti remover later, the original Coppertone shines again. I did leave some of the green showing on this bike because I wanted to preserve some of it's history and let it tell the story of a previous life.

As you can see on the floor, we got a little rain lastnight! But thats not stopping us from getting work done 💪🏼. In the stand today is a Schwinn Breeze that, sadly, isn't getting fixed... its getting parted out.

Vintage Schwinn parts can be hard to find or expensive, so when you find a bike that has some worth while parts but the bike as a whole isn't worth much, you have to take what you can get. 🤷‍♂️

With a little bit of elbow grease and some chemical help, the is coming off beautifully!! 🤌🏻 Thank God Michelangelo didn't do ANY frame prep before painting or this could be a much different story! I figure, with a a couple more hours of work, you'll never be able to tell this bike was painted over! With me luck!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Another one followed me home today! Somewhere under that John Deere green is a 1965 Coppertone Schwinn Sting-Ray!! Soon, it will shine again!!
