PYAA Basketball Families,
As we approach the dates for PYAA travel basketball tryouts, we wanted to get some additional details out to you. We are approaching the tryout options a little differently this year to help the evaluators simplify the process and make a fair assessment of the talent and skills in the gyms. There will be three total tryout dates for each grade. Each child trying out MUST attend at least one of the first two dates. The third date will be a "call back" day for the board and evaluators to get a second look at anyone where we need more information. We will once again be using experienced JH and HS basketball coaches as evaluators. The initial dates are as follows:
Sunday, 9/13 at Pickerington Central HS (Enter through the fieldhouse doors):
12:30-2:00 - All boys in grades 3-6
2:30-4:00 - All girls in grade 3-6
Tuesday, 9/15 at Grace Fellowship (1449 Refugee Rd, Pickerington):
6:00-7:15 - Girls grades 3-4
7:15-8:30 - Girls grades 5-6
Wednesday, 9/16 at Grace Fellowship:
6:00-7:15 - Boys grades 3-4
7:15-8:30 - Boys grades 5-6
The call back date will be Sunday, 9/20 at Pickerington North HS - We will have more information about the specific times after the sessions earlier in the week.
If your child is interested in trying out, please complete the pre-registration form at the link below. Pre-registration is not mandatory, but it does help us be more efficient with the check-in process on the tryout dates and plan for gym space and staffing needs. If you know of anyone interested in trying out who did not receive this email, feel free to forward it.
If your child tries out and is selected, there will be a mandatory in-person parent meeting the following week, likely on Thursday, 9/24. The specific time and location will be emailed to the parents of kids who are placed on a roster.
