On Tuesday, I got a text from a studio owner in Scottsdale, AZ, asking me to teach. Y’all—I was nervous. Like, really nervous. I almost said no.
I haven’t taught in months. I tried everything to fill my classes before deciding to take a break and regroup. Sometimes, no matter how hard you push, things don’t go as planned—and that’s OK. It doesn’t mean you failed; it just means you needed time to reset.
But when this opportunity popped up, the doubts came RUSHING in.
❌ I had no playlist.
❌ I wasn’t sure if I’d remember the choreo.
❌ I worried about their reaction to me being a disabled instructor.
❌ And I wondered if they’d be able to understand me (for those who don’t know, I have a speech impediment). Basically, I was in my head big time.
But guess what? I did it ANYWAY. 💪🏼 I tweaked an old playlist, practiced the choreo the night before and the day of, and trusted myself.
And y’all… I am SO glad I said yes! These ladies SHOWED UP and SHOWED OUT!! 🔥 We danced, we yelled, we played, and had the BEST time. And the best part? They even asked if I was coming back next week. 🥹💖
So here’s your reminder: It’s OK to take a break. It’s OK to have doubts. But don’t let them stop you. Do it anyway—because sometimes, the best things happen when you least expect them. 💫
