Ok, here’s a surprise. Flows on the Klamath are ramping up from Keno Dam at 1am on August 28 to levels we typically only see in the spring. Nearly 1,800 CFS. Unfortunately, most of our trips are 100% booked up over the weekend. However, we are opening one Moonshine Falls trip on Friday that has room for up to 8 people. $250/person and we need a minimum commitment of six participants by 2pm tomorrow (Thursday) to run this trip. Only a handful of commercial trips have ever run on the Moonshine Falls (Big Bend) section of the Klamath. You will join Ian Gannon, one of only two people who have guided trips there. And Will Volpert will run a second boat. He mostly re-wires trailers and sweeps the warehouse, but he read Rafting 101 and is up for the challenge.

This trip includes two laps on Moonshine Falls (Big Bend) and lunch. We will meet at our rafting center in Phoenix at 8:30 a.m. or Pioneer Park West at 10:15 a.m. At this flow, the rapids are serious Class IV+ and some V. We will require participants to be in good shape and have Class IV experience.

When we started Indigo Creek Outfitters in 2011, owning commercial property felt like a distant goal. For ten years, we rented space in Ashland and focused on the things that mattered most at the time: building a business, taking care of our guests, hiring great people, and figuring out how to make a living doing something we loved.

Along the way, we started thinking about the long term future. We wanted to own the place where our business operated. We wanted to put down roots.…

What a week! Thank you to our guests who joined us over the last few days. Summer is flying by, but there are still so many river days to look forward to…. If you need a day (or three!) to reset, soak up some sun, slow things down, listen to the river, watch an eagle soar, eat well after a day of adventure, surround yourself with amazing views, find inspiration with a sunset and sunrise…. the list goes on and on. We got you.

American Whitewater was instrumental in making it possible to offer trips on the Klamath River following the removal of the Klamath River dams. Their advocacy and tireless work for river access and recreation have had a direct, tangible impact on what is possible on the Klamath today.

Because of that work, the public can experience the Klamath in a variety of ways—from Class I water to Class V whitewater. That kind of diversified recreational use doesn’t happen by accident.

It takes access points. It takes hazard mitigation. It takes an understanding of an incredibly complicated bureaucratic process. And perhaps most importantly, it takes years of relationship building, collaboration, and trust with Tribes, agencies, landowners, outfitters, conservation groups, and other stakeholders.

If you’ve joined us on the Klamath over the past two years, you’ve been able to do so in part because of American Whitewater and their commitment to recreation on this river.

In particular, we want to recognize Tom O’Keefe, Bill Cross, and Scott Harding for their work and dedication.

We are incredibly thankful for our collaborative efforts with our friends at Momentum River Expeditions and Noah’s River Adventures, and for the professionalism and persistence of the American Whitewater team.

The photo we’re sharing here, featured in American Whitewater’s recent newsletter, is from a very special place on the Klamath—a place that represents just how much has changed, and how much opportunity now exists on this river.

If you aren’t a member of American Whitewater, join today.

They do good.

Plain and simple.

They do good.
