Love that United States Eventing Association, Inc. (USEA) is acknowledging our members like this! Noah is a great reflection of our area!
Each of our USEA members has something to share and we are excited to showcase those thoughts, opinions, and celebrations in our Voices of the USEA series. ❤️ Meet this week's featured member Noah Egdin, the USEA Area X Board Secretary!
“I’ve grown up in Arizona, I am a third generation native, and in many ways, the Area X community has shaped me just as much as the horses have. I’ve been eventing here since I was a young teenager, and over the last 4½ years, my horse Vito and I have climbed from Beginner Novice to Training together. He’s a 16‑year‑old Thoroughbred with a huge heart, and every step we’ve taken has been built on patience, trust, and a lot of learning.
My first word was actually ‘horse,’ which probably says everything about where I was headed. I started out as a rodeo kid—roping, running gymkhanas, and competing in ranch classes on a Quarter Horse. Eventing didn’t enter my world until later, but once it did, I knew I’d found the sport that challenged me in all the right ways.
To me, eventing isn’t just about showing up and getting on your horse. It’s about understanding the animal underneath you, the demands of the sport, and the work it takes to produce a true three‑day event horse. I’ve spent countless hours on the ground watching lessons, studying warm‑ups, and learning from riders far more experienced than me. Those moments have been just as important as the time in the saddle.
I’m currently a sophomore at Scottsdale Community College, double‑majoring in Equine Science and Biology. I also work part‑time as a Vet Technician at Pinnacle Peak Animal Hospital. Balancing school, work, and riding isn’t always easy, but every piece of it feeds into the horseman I want to become.
Area X has always felt like a family to me. The people here have supported me through setbacks—mine and my horses’—and have celebrated every milestone along the way. I hope I’ve been able to give that same support back to the younger riders coming up behind me. If I could offer them one piece of advice, it would be this: show up, ask questions, and take every opportunity to learn. Some of the best connections I’ve made in this sport came from simply offering to help or being willing to say ‘yes’ to something that scared me.
My favorite places to compete—Flagstaff, Kentucky Horse Park, and Rebecca Farm—each hold memories of growth, challenge, and the kind of experiences that remind me why I love this sport. Eventing has given me a direction, a community, and a purpose, and I’m grateful every day to be part of Area X.”
We know Area X shares that same love for you, Noah ❤️
