- TKO President Mark Shapiro on the launch of Zuffa Boxing, which will be coming to Arizona as part of our new partnership with TKO.

Through a partnership with Saudi power broker Turki Al-Sheikh and the Saudi entertainment company Sela, Zuffa is trying to disrupt the “sweet science” with big money, potent influence and a new model that looks similar to the one that vaulted UFC to being worth around $4 billion.

With the big show coming up this weekend, and the returning to Arizona in the near future as part of our new Alliance with TKO Group Holdings, we thought today was a good day to throwback to April 14, 2018.

Arizona native Justin Gaethje 🇺🇸 fought in the main event that night, in the first-ever UFC show held in Glendale, AZ, losing a memorable bout to Dustin Poirier.

Fast forward eight years and Gaethje is back in the main event for UFC Freedom 250, defending his Lightweight Championship vs. Ilia Topuria this Sunday.
