Mattevi's Martial Arts Academy Pursing excellence in martial arts and character. The teachings of Grandmaster Ro were brought to the United States from Korea by several trustworthy students.

Our traditional style of martial arts is in the direct lineage of the Song Moo Kwan which was founded by Grandmaster Byong Jick Ro. One of whom was Il Joo Kim. One of Grandmaster Kim's first students was Bob Chaney. Master Chaney continued to carry on the traditions of the Song Moo Kwan Kuk Ki Ryu while pursuing the knowledge of Muay Thai kickboxing as well as other martial arts. The teachings of

Master Chaney were entrusted to Master Gary Mattevi who continues to carry on the traditions of the Song Moo Kwan Kuk Ki Ryu, the teachings of Master Chaney while pursuing the knowledge of other martial arts. Gary & Kim Mattevi have shared their passion for the martial arts for many years. Together they have built and operated martial arts academies for many years. They have had the privilege seeing first hand the positive impact that martial arts training can have on students of all ages. We are a proud affiliate school of the Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association. Teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the Gracie tradition.

Happy Thanksgiving! We are thankful for all the wonderful people we have known over the many years in the martial arts community. It is a community filled with disciplined and dedicated individuals who share a code of honor and high ethical standards. We are not without our flaws, but we continue to work diligently to become the best people we possibly can. Blessings to all!

We had a great Skype training session today. We covered a lot of important details on the forms and one-steps. The marvels of modern technology! If you are a karate student Purple belt or above, the next Skype training sessions will be Tuesday evening (1/17) at 7:30 PM (ET) and Saturday (1/21) at 1:00 PM (ET).
