'Srbijada 2014' Labor Day soccer tournament in Milwaukee, WI. The FC United Serbs, originally established in 1998 in Phoenix, Arizona, was born with the idea to attract young men to engage in sport participation within the existing/growing Serbian community in the state of Arizona. The club quickly gr
ew popularity and with its first members soon started competing within local leagues and tournaments. In the year 2000 the United Serbs Soccer Club started competing in the SUASL (State United Amateur Soccer League) league in Scottsdale, AZ. Due to an increasing success at the local level, the club gained national recognition through invitations to major tournaments across the United States, such as the national tournament ‘Srbijada’.
'Srbijada' is an annual soccer tournament in which top soccer clubs, with a Serbian background, across the United States and Canada compete against each other. Each year the event is hosted by a different city across the North Americas, promoting exposure to new Serbian communities as well as the surroundings that they occupy. It has become a traditional event that attracts thousands of visitors to the respective city hosting the occasion. The FC United Serbs Soccer Club received its first invitation to the ‘Srbijada’ tournament in 2003 hosted by the ‘Karadjordje Soccer Club’ based in Cleveland, Ohio. Between the years 2004-2008 the Club had the pleasure of visiting Milwaukee (WI), Niagara Falls (ON), St.Petersburg (FL), Vancouver (BC), and Hamilton (ON), successfully competing on the highest level of amateur soccer within the North American Serbian communities while also reaching the quarter finals of the tournament on two occasions. In 2009 the FC United Serbs Soccer Club completed one of the most successful ‘Srbijada’ to date, only losing in the semi-finals in an exciting shootout. The following year, in 2010, the soccer club earned the right and was honored with hosting the ‘Srbijada’ tournament in Phoenix, AZ. Due to the lack of financial resources our team did not attend Srbijada in 2012. The following year, in 2013, our team sent to Akron (OH) one of the best teams ever assembled by our club, and unfortunately lost in semi finals to earn the 3rd place. Our team currently competes in SUASL (Scottsdale United Amateur Soccer League).
