Visit www.valleyymca.org to find out how you can become part of our YMCA community. For the Y, providing “every opportunity to reach farther” is a very real promise we make to this community. It means that your YMCA—an organization with the capacity and will to inspire positive and lasting social change—is pursuing a mission to do just that. So what does that mean for you? FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT…

it means reaching farther to help children and teens reach their full potential through value–based programs, including child care and educational programs, sports and activities, summer day camps, overnight camps, swim programs, teen leadership programs, events, and clubs. Each opportunity builds skills, self-confidence, positive peer relationships—and unimagined successes. FOR HEALTHY LIVING…
…it means providing every opportunity to help our members achieve their goals for peak health and well-being by offering unparalleled support, guidance, resources, and facilities. We know that our considerable expertise will lead hundreds to achieve their wellness goals and get on a path to a healthier life. FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY…
…it means creating a community that reaches out to give back—helping our most vulnerable and deserving neighbors achieve their dreams for better lives. The YMCA’s social service programs—including initiatives in education, health, character-building, cultural understanding, leadership, vocational training, the arts and more—inspire hope, create new opportunities for success and meaningfully change futures. So, please join our Circle of Friends and support our cause.

For 175 years, the Valley of the Sun YMCA has been a place where people come to find connection, community, and a sense of belonging, no matter where they come from.

That’s why we’re proud to celebrate Welcoming Week, September 10–19, honoring the strength and vibrancy all neighbors bring to the Valley of the Sun.

And we’re keeping the celebration going with Welcoming Week Spirit Week, September 14–18! 🎉 We’re inviting Y staff and members across all of our branches to join in, show your Y spirit and celebrate what makes our community so special.

Check out our Spirit Week themes and join us in celebrating all week long!

Meet the Speaker: Ashley Rojas
We’re excited to welcome Ashley Rojas to REMLE!
As a Supervisor on the Partner Advocacy team at St. Mary’s Food Bank, Ashley works alongside community organizations across Maricopa County to build stronger partnerships and expand access to vital resources.

At REMLE, Ashley will lead “Building Community Impact Through Collaboration,” a session focused on the power of strong relationships to create meaningful change.
Participants will explore how food banks and community organizations can work together to expand resources, serve diverse populations, and strengthen the communities around them. Through real-world examples and practical strategies, Ashley will share how intentional collaboration can turn partnerships into lasting community impact.

We’re looking forward to learning from Ashley and exploring how we can build stronger connections and create greater impact together!

Still not over our day on the mountain. ⛰️💙

A little time away, a lot of great conversations, and even better company. We’re grateful for the opportunity to slow down, connect, and spend time together as one Y team.

Meet the Speaker: Kaimen Slay

We’re excited to welcome Kaimen Slay to REMLE!
With a decade of experience in youth development, community engagement, and entrepreneurship, Kaimen has dedicated his work to creating programs, partnerships, and opportunities that help young people thrive.

As the Branch Director of the Arizona Diamondbacks Boys & Girls Club in South Phoenix and founder of Game Winner Events, Kaimen brings a relationship-driven approach to leadership and a passion for creating meaningful opportunities within the communities he serves.

A former college basketball player, Kaimen knows firsthand the power of teamwork, perseverance, and creating opportunities rather than waiting for them.

His leadership philosophy is simple: strong leaders don’t wait for opportunity, they create it where they are.
We’re looking forward to having Kaimen share his perspective and experiences with REMLE attendees as we come together to learn, connect, and grow as leaders.
