The men's golf team had its two teams finish first and second at the season-opening South Mountain Invitational Sept. 2-3 at Las Colinas Golf Course in Queen Creek, Ariz. The Cougars' squads finished at -40 (812) and -27 (825) over the 54 holes to take the top two spots among five schools competing at the event. Sophomore Madilyn Jimenez of the women's golf team won the Southwest Collegiate and claimed individual medalist honors with a final score of +13 (226) at Las Colinas Golf Course on Sept. 2-3, in Queen Creek, Ariz. Sophomore Lexi Tuinstra was third at +19 (232), freshman Angelina Osolin was seventh at +29 (242), sophomore Molly McDonald was eighth at +31 (244), and freshman Tailey Buckway was ninth at +39 (252). Sophomore Quinton Breuer of the men's golf program has been named the Chick-Fil-A South Mountain August Student-Athlete of the Month. Breuer enters the 2026-27 season with a great deal of momentum after earning NJCAA Second Team All-American and ACCAC Division II Player of the Year honors as a freshman.

Most recently, Breuer posted a fourth-place finish at the 2026 Arizona Stroke Play Championships from Aug. 20-23 at Wickenburg Ranch Golf & Social Club in Wickenburg, Ariz.

"I felt my play was very solid throughout the whole tournament," Breuer said in a text message. "My putting was definitely what helped me the most. The course was very challenging and required a lot of preparation, so it felt great to finish fourth. There were a lot of great players in the field, so I was very grateful to finish as well as I did."

men's basketball head coach Cory Hoff has announced the 2026-27 recruiting class for the Cougar program. As Hoff and his staff enter year two at South Mountain Community College, they have put together a roster of eight returners and 10 freshmen.

The eight returners for the Cougar program are redshirt sophomore guard Blake Carabio (Peoria, AZ/Ironwood), sophomore wing Dylan Eaddy (Atlanta, GA/Imagine Prep), redshirt sophomore wing Semajay James (Inglewood, CA/Deer Valley), sophomore wing Jadden Jones (Glendale, AZ/Ironwood), sophomore forward Gak Kueth (Peoria, AZ/Kellis), sophomore wing Devone Pless (Chandler, AZ/AZ Compass Prep), redshirt sophomore point guard Travis Vasquez (Glendale, AZ/Deer Valley) and sophomore point guard I'yar Shadowvine (Tacoma, WA/Ironwood).

men's golf sophomore Quinton Breuer, a 2026 NJCAA Second Team All-American, finished fourth at -11 (273) at the 41st Arizona Stroke Play Championship from Aug. 20-23 at Wickenburg Ranch Golf & Social Club in Wickenburg, Ariz.
