Late in the session I was working jump spinning back kicks very close to the bag.

Hard timing problem. Easy to over-rotate when the gas tank is low.

Missed one.
Explained the error. Made the adjustment. Repeated until the mechanics were clean again.
Crash said, “I do that too.”
Good.
Because skill isn’t just ex*****on — it’s awareness.

If he learns that early, he’ll improve faster than I did. Because the goal isn’t avoiding mistakes.
It’s shortening the time between mistake and correction. ❤️ art

Punish the same spot repeatedly. It’s easy to forget this is a thing when you’re switching partners every round in training, but in a 3, 5, 8, 10 round fight it adds up quickly.

Peek a boo is weird for kickboxing because you often get clinched, and the head movement puts you in danger of knees. But with aggressive footwork and angles it’s not terrible.

One of THE MEANEST gazelle punch artists was David Tua; loved watching that man fight. “But coach what if…” Shhh, child. Every motion has a counter and if you’re careless you might eat a knee. Or you might dip some poor soul’s cross and tickle his ear. Be judicious in its use 👊🏻
