Disability pride is pretty important to us here at Fitness Alive. Just ask our friend Marta Rusek: Digital Storyteller.
Marta has been swimming with us since 2022. As an Autistic person, she enjoys swimming in our pool because we offer a sensory-friendly environment and fitness classes led by instructors who are trained to meet the needs of neurodiverse community members like her.
We are regularly updating our pools so that our community is as accessible as possible to anyone who wants to swim laps, take classes, or learn how to swim, especially disabled swimmers.
Wanna see if Fitness Alive is your new favorite pool? Give us a try - take your first fitness class or lap swim with us for just $15. And yes, we do offer one-on-one swim lessons.
[Video description: A video of Marta Rusek telling her story as an Autistic swimmer at Fitness Alive. We see Marta rocking a pair of noise-cancelling headphones as she walks to our Center City pool. We then see her pop up in the water with a smile, followed by a quiet scene with low-lighting and sound absorbing panels in the pool. We also see Marta swimming a lap and working hard in a Water Aerobics class. We even get to see shots of our instructors, including Eloise, Dylan, and Dia. Marta ends the video by smiling at us while treading water.]
