DeVonta Smith isn't worried about becoming the Eagles' WR1!
After Philadelphia traded A.J. Brown to New England, all eyes immediately turned to DeVonta Smith.
Can he be the No. 1 receiver?
Smith's response:
💬 "Business is business... I'm just going out there and do my job."
💬 "Regardless of how you want to look at it — 1, 2, 3, 4 — however you want to look at it, at the end of the day, we all have jobs."
That's a pretty telling answer.
No grand statements.
No pressure.
Just business.
And honestly, Eagles teammates don't seem concerned either.
Jordan Mailata shut down the entire WR1 debate.
💬 "He's always been a No. 1 receiver. Nothing has changed for Smitty."
💬 "Smitty's always led from the front."
💬 "He's always been a captain in my eyes."
It's easy to forget how productive Smith has already been.
Since entering the NFL:
🔹 Multiple 1,000-yard seasons
🔹 Former Heisman Trophy winner
🔹 One of the best route-runners in football
🔹 Proven playoff performer
The biggest difference now is that he'll likely see the opponent's top corner every week.
No more A.J. Brown drawing most of the defensive attention.
Now, Smith becomes the focal point.
Still, many inside Philadelphia don't view this as a major adjustment.
They believe he's been playing like a WR1 all along.
The Eagles will also need help from:
🔹 Makai Lemon
🔹 Dontayvion Wicks
🔹 Eli Stowers
But make no mistake...Philadelphia's passing game now starts with DeVonta Smith.
And based on his teammates' confidence, they don't seem worried about that one bit. 👀🔥
