Our main shop, Firth & Wilson Transport Cycles, is a full-service bicycle shop and retail showroom specializing in transportation and cargo bicycles. We're located at 1315 N Howard Street in Kensington, and cater exclusively to the urban cyclist with a full range of bike accessories and bicycles from Yuba, Xtracycle, Tern, Fuji, Batch, and SE. The option of a custom fabricated bicycle is also on o

ffer, designed by the shop's owners under the labels David Wilson Industries (DWI) custom cargo bikes and Hanford Cycles custom frames. Also in our frame shop we repair Brooks saddles (the official North American repair center), repair steel bicycle frames, and fabricate Shorty, our compact cargo bike. Our current hours are Tuesday to Saturday 10-4, closed for lunch 1-1:30. We have a second service oriented location in South Philadelphia, Transport Cycles at Bok located at 821 Dudley Street. Bok is a former vocational/technical high school that has been re-purposed as a hub for artists, crafts people, professionals, and small businesses. We are excited to be a part of the Bok community! Day 5 & Bike 5 - Brooklyn Wythe

The Wythe is Brooklyn Bicycle Co.'s purest expression of city cycling. Day 4 & Bike 4 - Riese & Muller Carrie

One-of-a-kind: compact, lightweight and nimble. These are not normally words to describe a front-loader. But the Carrie is different; the perfect cargo bike for urban living and sporty handling.

For the family & friends: A one-size-fits all frame design and fully adjustable cockpit allows everyone to ride the Carrie comfortably. And beautifully designed child seats allow your passengers to be safe and comfortable.

The Carrie comes fully loaded with everything you need to ride, including a rear rack that carries up to 60lbs, integrated front and rear lights, fenders, chain guard, two-legged kickstand and top-end components.

Sustainability from the start. Riese & Müller is a family business devoted to sustainability and the Carrie is a result. Its compact frame is made of recycled aluminum and is powder-coated to conserve resources. PVC's that can be potentially harmful to health are not used with the optional child cover. The Carrie accessories are designed to be easy to dismantle, clean and repair.

Our Olde Kensington location is currently a host site for one of the best CSAs around. It's not too late to sign up. Summer CSA runs all the way until October 31. Pick up is on Tuesdays from 11am - 6pm (or you can sign up and get a text from Rebecka to pick up early).

Day 1 & Bike 1 - Yuba Spicy Curry

The Spicy Curry has been a favorite of cargo bike fans around the globe since 2015. That’s the year Yuba won the Eurobike Product Innovation Gold Award, and it’s only gotten better since.

What’s new? The new Bosch Cargo Line Motor, designed specifically for cargo bikes, provides support up to 20mph and enables load-controlled acceleration, even when starting off. The PowerPack 500 Battery offers increased capacity and range, while the Kiox Color Display records riding data and transmits it via Bluetooth to the Bosch eBike Connect app on a smartphone.

Front and rear thru-axles have been added to increase rigidity of the wheel-frame interface and allow more accurate wheel placement. They also added Magura hydraulic 4-piston front and 2-piston rear disc brakes for incredible stopping power, and put the much-loved Spicy Curry geometry on top of new, wider tires from Schwalbe, for better handling and comfort.

That gas isn't getting any cheaper and as the city prepares for the 250th celebrations, FIFA World Cup, and MLB All Star Game you may want to think of alternative ways to get around town. Getting around by bike is so easy. And what is even easier is when you can combine it with taking a train or a bus.

A Brompton folding bike allows you to go anywhere by bicycle. With it's super compact fold you can quickly bring it on public transportation for those times you don't want to ride and take into the office instead of locking up outside.
