An crew comes out every Sunday during our weekly Friends of Mifflin Square Park volunteer cleanups.
The city workers empty overflowing trash cans and clear the constant piles of dumped trash on the sidewalks. They also offer thanks and encouragement to our volunteers.
Today was our first Sunday cleanup since the strike began. Without these essential workers, trash is piling up all around the perimeter of the park.
DC33 workers are critical to the health, safety, and well-being of our neighborhood and parks. They have been underpaid for decades. They care for our public spaces, and they deserve a living wage.
Friends of Mifflin Square Park call on city leadership to commit to a just, fair, cost-of-living adjusted (with growth!) contract that demonstrates value and respect for public service & DC33 membersβ labor and wellbeing.
Contact the mayor, council members, and city officials to express your support for the workers and call for a just and fair contract.
And, as always, please hold your household trash on your own curb and encourage your neighbors to do the same. Our park is not a dumping ground.
Thanks to all our neighbors and friends who care for the parks and each other π π π
