During my first trimester, I was experiencing such fatigue that I was sleeping 15-18 hours a day, when I managed to get out of bed, I felt like I got hit by a bus.
I am now in the glorious period of my pregnancy- the second trimester. I’m using this new-found energy to maintain my fitness and muscle tone and help me prepare for birth.
My practice is no longer about disciplines, or exploring my physical body.
It is about creating space for my growing uterus and toning the birth muscles. It is about making my postpartum recovery easier.
Though none of this can guarantee an easy, natural birth, whatever happens, I will credit my yoga for providing me with the insight to be compassionate towards myself.
Thinking about giving birth is sometimes intimidating. But I have come to see this as the first of many great lessons in acceptance and surrender that accompany the path of motherhood.
*There’s no harm in doing a supported inversion if you’re experienced. It actually takes the pressure off of the pelvic floor. It feels really good. 🤤
