Introducing our July Member of the Month: Quinn Weisman!
Quinn has been a member for just over 6 months and brings his infectious attitude, coachability and commitment to the process to every class!
We asked Quinn to share a few things about his journey:
What inspired you to get started?
I first walked into OBA having never lifted a barbell in my life or consistently worked out in years. I had been going through a very stressful time and I did not feel like I was taking good care of my health. I knew that changing my diet and exercise habits would help me immensely, both physically and mentally.
What was the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your fitness journey?
Honestly, the biggest challenge was just walking in the door and getting the movements down, but the community and the coaches are what keep me coming back. I am improving thanks to great coaching. They have been helping me so much with my form and understanding the movements. I am getting better each class and I couldn't do it without them.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering joining?
Don’t be intimidated, just do it! If I can do it, anybody can. The coaches and community are so kind and supportive and everything can be scaled to your level; you will love it!
How has our gym community helped you reach your fitness goals?
Everyone has made me feel so comfortable despite me being so novice at CrossFit and strength training. Being a member of the LGBTQ+ community, it can be intimidating and scary to join a gym. OBA is so welcoming and supportive to everyone, which makes it so much easier for me to feel comfortable and achieve my goals. It is such an amazing workout atmosphere.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Joining OBA has changed my life. I am doing things I never thought I could do. After every class I am so proud of myself for doing something challenging. I feel so much stronger and healthier. I cannot believe how different I feel after only 6 months. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would average 4 days/week in the gym. I have gotten to over 100 classes in 6 months. Lastly, I have made so many new friends! But the echo bike is not one of them.
