“Client Chats” topic of the week is cross training. What is it? Why is it important and do you need to be doing it.

🏃🏻‍♀️ 🧘🏻‍♀️ 🏊🏼‍♀️ 🚴 🏋🏻‍♀️Cross training is training that combines different types of exercises such as cardio, strength, and flexibility.

❤️💪🏼 It’s important because variety in your training helps improve overall fitness and reduce injury risk.

🤔 who should be cross training?
Everyone can benefit from crossing training because variety improves overall health & fitness and prevents Injury and burnout.
Cross training is especially important for Individuals who favor or who’s goal requires more of 1 type of training like runners and body builders.

For example a good cross training split for runners training for a race would be 3-4 run days, 1-2 strength training days and 1 day of yoga.

Another example would be a body builder or someone focusing on muscle building. A good split would be 4-5 days strength training, 1 day swimming , biking or running and 1 day yoga.

For the average person like myself looking to reap the benefits of a balanced training regime a weekly split would look more like 2-3 strength days, 1-2 cardio and 1 active rest day (yoga, stretching, foam rolling) .
Some of these can even be on the same day. For example: 30 minute upper body workout with a 30 minute cardio session.

Who remembers Ripe Pineapple Fitness?! Circa 2016

In 2016 I was still working full time at my marketing job and started taking clients on my lunch break & evenings. By the end of the year I knew I had to make a decision and I chose to leave that job and pursue a career as a personal trainer.
Ripe Pineapple Fitness was born!
I worked 5 years at the PAC as personal trainer and hiit class instructor. I am forever thankful for this time. The relationships formed and personal growth was life changing.

During 2020 and after everything that came with that year I chose to pivot and go out on my own and in 2021 I opened Hardy Fitness & Health. The women’s studio gym. Where my focus was and still is all things women’s wellness!

5 years as Hardy Fitness & Health has been amazing!!
Clients have become friends and I’ve been able to help so many women find their healthiest & happiest self.

The community that has been built & continues to grow inspires me daily!!

As I celebrate 10 years of helping women on their health & fitness journey I decided it’s time for a little rebrand!
A Refresh!
Something that better reflects Jamie Griffis, personal trainer 2026.

My focus is and always will be women’s health! That will not change. I will continue to work face to face with my clients and offer a personalized experience that helps women reach their health & fitness goals!
