Before every start I would have a PBJ. I felt it gave me enough fuel to last the next couple hours of exercise (pitching). Carbs, fat, protein and sodium. Almost like a protein or meal bar. I would eat it about 45 minutes before the scheduled game start time. Sometimes I would add an extra piece of bread in the middle if I felt I needed it.
Just a suggestion, for you young athletes in puberty mode lifting weights trying to put on weight (hopefully good weight), I’ve heard having a PBJ and chocolate milk mid morning, mid afternoon and in the evening can be a big help especially with the calorie intake goals you should have.
