Welcome New Member HSTL Athletic Club! Elijah Brumback, Owner, 1019 Buckley Avenue. Tel. (517) 974-9887. Website HSTL Athletic Club is built on four pillars—Heart, Soul, Trust, and Love. We believe fitness is more than physical strength; it’s about discipline, resilience, and community. Every class is designed to challenge, support, and inspire, creating a culture where members feel empowered to build better bodies and better lives. Our training blends progressive strength work, athletic conditioning, mobility, and recovery into coach-led, community-driven classes. With options like Build (strength and hypertrophy), Burn (conditioning and endurance), Balance & Flow (yoga and mobility), and Sculpt (heated yoga-strength fusion), there’s a path for every athlete to grow.

To my No. 1 on your birthday. Grateful for you, what you’ve shown me, dreaming together, sharing the small moments, holding each other close in the big ones. I love you.

This must be the place …

And you’re standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money, always for love
Cover us and say goodnight

Three years ago today, The HSTL FACTORY started grinding

I’m humbled and grateful to those that have put in the work and sweat since day one and all those who have join the team since then.

A special thank you to my wife and business partner for believing in the dream, holding the vision and giving up her easy Saturday morning to load the car with weights (while pregnant) and convincing everyone they’re having fun.

We are excited for the future.

Finally made it back for another night of grab-ass. Thanks for kicking my ass

All jokes aside, these grappling sessions are some of the best physical and mental challenges I’ve had in a long time. There’s a competitive atmosphere, but everyone is quick to offer help in the process.

This is our attempt at a cool photo.

We gave it our best today in an effort to honor our fallen heroes with with sweat and grit. Proud to have such a badass family helping push each other the entire way.

On June 28, 2005, U.S. Navy Lt. Michael Murphy was the officer-in-charge of a four-man SEAL element in support of Operation Red Wing in the mountains near Asadabad, Afghanistan. During a fierce gun battle with Taliban fighters, an already-wounded Lt. Murphy risked his own life to save the lives of his teammates, exposing himself in order to transmit a rescue call.

In his honor “Murph” was born.

2012 (25yo)➡️ 2023 (36yo)

After college I stopped working out almost completely. It took me 4 years to admit to myself how terribly I was treating my body.

The first picture is the day I learned just how bad things were. It was supposed to be a fun run 5k. I remember thinking this would be no sweat, plus free beer and cake afterwards! No training, no prep at all, how hard could it be?

I was in trouble before I even toed the line. May face says it all here. Muscles cramping, feet barely leaving the ground, I was done.

Days later after the soreness was finally tapering off, I felt low and lost - my identity had always been that of an athlete, now I could barely run 3 miles without walking. What now?

The next day, I put those ridiculous blue Nikes back on and went out and got really sore again, … and again, and again, and again …

11 years later, I’m in the best shape of my life and I’m not done.

Keep Going.

SWIPE for that “transformation” photo - A little back story: There is exactly 2 years and 5 days between the first and second photo. In both photos I’m weighing in around 160lbs, which seems crazy to me now.

I’ve had lots ups and downs in my own fitness journey and I’m posting this as reminder that health and wellness is marathon, not a sprint. Progress for me has been a back and forth effort, struggling with diet, programming and life changes.

It seems simplistic, but as I look at the same challenges today, my goal is vastly different from what I thought I thought needed my attention. Now, my guiding principle is to just do what I can to stack more good days together than “bad” days. Some days the choices are easy and some days they’re brutal and I’ve accepted that probably won’t change. Everything is a work in progress.

So, I hope those of you who cared to read all this can take a step back and let the pressure and judgement on yourselves to look a certain way or achieve certain thing fall away in time - and hopefully just start stacking those good days together.

I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished in this body and wherever you are today in your own journey - you should be too.

In gratitude to many, especially my wife for her unwavering support 🙏 - E

NEWSFLASH:
The HSTL FACTORY is here. Over the last couple months myself and a handful of family and friends have been cranking wrenches and slapping up paint to bring this vision to life.

To my incredible wife thank you for helping me create this space and supporting me every step of the way.

A massive amount of gratitude for my family, the encouragement and free labor. I love you. Very literally could not have done this without all of you.

To the clients that have trusted me and grown with me, I’m so proud to share this you and deliver the experience your effort deserves.

Training, and more specifically training others, has been a gift and I’m grateful to have this opportunity.

More to come 🤘🏼
