217-414-4471 (Mobile) Illinois Bow Hunting is what we specialize in at Illinois Trophy Bowhunters!

If you want to bow hunt Illinois, your search for an Illinois Bow Hunting Outfitter is over! At Illinois Trophy Bowhunters (ITB for short), we have been Bow Hunting Illinois since 1991. As one of the oldest Illinois Whitetail Deer Hunting Outfitters you can rest assured we have figured out how to successfully bow hunt Illinois. Take a look at our photo galleries, read or watch our hunter testimonials, follow the conversation on our page and you will soon realize that ITB is the place to book your Illinois Bow Hunting Trips. While bow hunting is the core of our operation, we also offer a select number of whitetail gun hunts during the Illinois firearm deer season. The owners and guides at ITB are all avid Illinois Bow Hunters and know the specific requirements needed to successfully bow hunt Illinois. This Illinois bow hunting experience is what you should be looking for in an Illinois Outfitter. This is all we do! Illinois is the only state we hunt and trophy whitetail deer is the only animal we are after. Hence the name, “Illinois Trophy Bowhunters”!

“Where Whitetail Dreams Come True” is not only our slogan, but our mission statement as well. We have fine-tuned every aspect of your deer hunt to maximize your chance of bow hunting success. Since we are 100% fair chase, we cannot guarantee you a buck, but we will do everything we can to give you that opportunity. To accomplish this, we use our experience to maximize your shot opportunities at trophy whitetail deer. All of our farms are managed for trophy quality deer (125” P&Y or better). In addition, our archery hunts are a full, 6 days of hunting, not 5 like many other Illinois deer hunting outfitters. This extra day in the field can mean a lot if the weather has not cooperated during your week in Illinois. But most importantly, we only bow hunt our farms for 3 weeks! That’s right…just 3 weeks. Oh and by the way, those three weeks are during the rut! Trophy managed farms, longer hunts, hunting the rut, experienced bow hunting guides and fewer hunters is what will increase your opportunity for success. Illinois Trophy Bowhunters has been practicing this bow hunting philosophy for almost 25 years and it works!

The corn harvest has started in Illinois!
I saw the first fields being picked last week.
Here are the most recent trail cam photos.

Minimum buck standards of 140”
Our farms have had a 140 minimum for
10 - 15 years, and are often close to state parks and conservation refuges, so the population of bucks over 150” is very good.
The genetics are so good here, 2.5 year old bucks can be 6 x 6 and score in the mid 130s. That is actually the reason we started a 140 minimum, to protect those young 12 pointers for another year or more. Even more important, these areas have a very high rebooking, and many repeat hunters will not shoot a 140. In effect, that is a self imposed 150 minimum!
That’s teamwork!
Take the time to learn what a 140 buck looks like. If you don’t, the fine is $500. Bring cash for that. We enforce fines !
We do not want 130 class bucks taken. Neither do the other hunters in your camp. Mistakes in judgement happen, but If you are fined 2 years in a row, you won’t hunt that camp the next year.

Call your guide to introduce yourself in September, and confirm your meeting location/time upon arrival in camp. During this conversation, ensure you get clear directions to your hunting camp. The majority of our camps are remote and cell service is poor. Also, please let your guide know if you have special needs, medical limitations, or hunting preferences such as a ground blind or ladder stand. As a reminder our guides are spending more time in the woods in October, with minimal cell service, so please contact them in September.
If you are staying in a motel: Call your motel soon, preferably this week, and confirm your reservation.
They will want your credit card. For a 6 day hunt, we pay for 6 nights.

Hunting License/Deer Tag/Habitat Stamp - please ensure you have all 3 required licenses, deer tags and habitat stamps ( you won’t receive an actual stamp, the hunting license ID card must say “habitat stamp” which tells DNR Officers you paid that $5.50 fee). Every year 5-10 hunters each week fail to have what they need. Missing any of these items can delay your hunt by 4 hours or more depending on your camp location. And sign them. Make copies of the IDs to give your guide immediately upon arrival.

Please read again the Hunter Preparation letter to learn more about our daily hunt procedures and requirements, what you should bring, and think about what questions you need answered before you get here. It has a guide phone directory. I texted this to each hunter, but if you never received it, request it by text or email.

Directions to camp:
For hunters in Calhoun county, the cell service is bad. So be clear on directions before you leave home. If you did not receive directions, let me know now.

When you can’t reach your guide after 2 calls, then call or text me. Guides often don’t have cell service on the farms. They are busy now with mowing, hanging stands, clearing ATV and hiking trails from fallen trees, and setting and checking cameras on 17 farms of over 8000 acres.

We do have 2026 bow and gun hunts available due to some cancellations.

Here are the latest bucks we got on camera.
Note that young 6 x 6 in the black and white photos at the end, he is a great example of what you should not shoot here. He is probably 3.5 and has the potential to be a Booner. He needs time to mature.

New hunters wanting to book for 2027 need to mail their $500 deposits to me before November 1, and the sooner the better to get on the waiting list. We were sold out of 2026 hunts by early in December 2025, over a year ahead.

Bucks always look great in velvet.
Here are the most recent trail cam photos for 2026.

75% of our treestands are hang-ons with laddersticks, and mostly Milleniums.
If you require a ladderstand or a ground blind, remind your guide this month. If you need your guides phone number text me.

Hunts should be paid in full by September 1, and before arrival at camp. If you must bring a final payment to camp, it must be cash, certified check, or cashiers check. Personal checks will not be accepted.

Remember to bring copies for your guides of your Illinois deer permits and hunting license. Guides will want these immediately upon arrival at camp. If you arrive at camp without a hunting license you can lose 1/2 a days hunt going to get one. About 5 guys do this every year.

When you can’t reach your guide after 2 calls, then call or text me. Guides often don’t have cell service on the farms. They are busy now with mowing, hanging stands, and checking cameras.

2026 hunters who want to rebook need to get their 2027 $500 deposits to me before Dec 1. You can bring it to camp and give to your guide. After Dec 1, I assign vacancies to the new guys on the waitlist.

TWO GREAT SHEDS !

Here are the 2 best sheds I found this year, both 12 pointers if the other side matches, and the split g2 is a definite match based on the trail camera photos.
They were from Calhoun county.

What is interesting is out of all the sheds I have found over the years, that split g2 is one of the top 5 heaviest antlers ! The mass is incredible, g2 is almost 2” wide at the split.
Our hunters saw him from the stands, we have seen him about 5 years, probably a 6-7 year old.
I told Heck that morning that we would find his shed on 1 of 3 ridges, and we did. He had laid at the end of the ridge, so he could watch the deep hollow below him. We will hunt one stand only with an east wind in the afternoon, because of that shed !

We still have a few bow and gun hunts available. The photos below are from our shed hunts this spring.

ITB Turkey hunts 2026

Our first week was outstanding!
5 hunters harvested 5 gobblers all on the first day of their hunts. The hunts lasted an average of one hour!
Guide Jim Huecker had spent the prior weeks scouting roost and patterning movements to ensure success.
He had the turkeys figured out !
Week 1 guys have all rebooked too for 2027 !
Below are some photos of their success!

We still have bow and gun hunts available for 2026 deer hunting too.

ITB trail camera review for 2026

I am often asked what’s it like here ?
What’s it like at ITB?

About half our 20 guides are nonresident, and most have been with me 10-20 years. They were ITB hunters, and were promoted to guides.
Many hunters have been with us over 3 years, and some over 10.
So, It’s like a high school reunion for 6.5 days, and then the Celebration of deer hunting every time we take a great buck and even when our hunters just see the best buck of their life !!!
Below are some good bucks from the past that outsmarted us and are part of our 2026 inventory, as far as we know. We have seen and studied some of these bucks for 3-4 years, and have some of their sheds.
We can’t wait to see their growth in 2026 come this November!

If you have any questions about your hunt, or booking call me now. We have bow and gun hunts available.
