Too often exercise is framed as some sort of payment of debt for poor dietary choices or as a “necessary evil” in order to look a certain way. The focus becomes burning off calories, finishing drenched in sweat and feeling as tired and sore as possible. Chasing these outcomes is not sustainable and leads to injury or quitting exercise altogether.

Instead we should focus on the benefits of exercise:
* Improved cardiovascular fitness
* Increased muscle mass, strength and power
* Increased bone mineral density
* Improved mobility
* Better mood and mental health

This list goes on and on. If we focus on the positive effects of exercise and understand that following a well mapped out plan consistently will help us maximize those benefits we can shift our mindset on exercise from something negative to something positive.
