There is an important difference for riders between being tense - and being strong. Being tense is fragile, brittle and guarding… whereas being strong has breath, mobility and adaptability. When talking to yourself and imagining yourself in situations that require strength make sure to let go of any unwanted tension (neither you or your horse need it in order to succeed)! 🌈🌻

There are many reasons we may dodge a compliment - one of them can be that your skills have surpassed your beliefs. “Oh no, I usually mess that up” or “I just got lucky” or “I really don’t _____.” These kind of statements can be indicators that you have skills you don’t fully believe in yet. Remember, it’s not enough to have a skill, you also have to believe in it! This confidence will help both you and your horse when you need it most. 🫶🫶🫶

Today’s story contains:
Mentall skills
Sauna-ing
My husband
A mantra
Mindset adjustment
Commitment
“It’s just hot.”

With these pieces I do the following:
Break a challenge down, keep it simple, accept the state I’m in, use a mantra and remember to use mental skills and mindset in different areas of life.

Today’s win: I stayed in the sauna for 16 minutes. ⏰👊🥳

A big class at a horse show doesn’t call for you to be different and it doesn’t call for your horse to do things that he or she has never done before. Instead, big moments call for you to double down on who you and you horse are together - on your teamwork, bravery, problem solving skills, talents… Going into the ring to be authentically yourselves and have fun together is the key - your partnership was made to rise to challenges. You’ve worked hard and now you get to go enjoy! 🎉🥳💫

“The butterflies are the memory makers.” 🦋 When it feels extra tough or challenging it means there is a big opportunity for growth and leaning. Those are the successes we remember with our horse - easy days or easy wins at the horse show are quickly forgotten. What changes us and makes us better are the times we rose to the occasion in the face of a really tough day or moment. Challenges are always opportunities!! ⚡️🌟💫

Optimism is one of the most valuable mindset skills that exist - and a quality that elite athletes share. “Yes, we can do that… Yes, it’s possible… Yes, this work and preparation will pay off… Yes, we are headed that direction and we will get there…” Increased optimism will fuel your grit, resilience and determination - all things we need in order to accomplish big goals!! 💪👊
Yes we can make it a great ride and a great summer!! 🌟✨🥳

We can all get a bit lost ‘wondering’ from time to time… Getting to the barn wondering, how’s my horse going to be? What’s our day going to be like today? How’s this school going to go? Although I’m all for being open to what happens in the moment and staying curious, there is also something to be said for a mindset shift where you switch gears and decide to create a great ride. Focusing on creating a productive ride with your horse (instead of just wondering) helps you access strong beliefs, thoughts, choices, actions and behaviors that support both of you being your best. 🌟💫🫶 Try it and let me know how it goes!

What do you see when you walk a course at a horse show? Do you see problem areas, potential mistakes, or fears from past experiences? I hope instead that you envision opportunities, solutions, excitement and places to use you and your horse’s skills. Good luck and have so much fun! 🥳🌟💫
