Friday Night Lights! May 15/Saturday May 16th
📍 Kokomo Quarter Midget Club

We had a big rookie car count this weekend and got some good seat time. Friday under the lights he was nice and smooth but just didn’t have the speed we’d been working on. He got a third place in his heat race and a third in the feature. Saturday morning after a hearty donut and popcorn breakfast he came out on the gas. He made a last lap pass for the win in his heat race. That put him on the pole of the feature and he went on to lead every lap for the win! 🥇 He got some experience responding to yellows and pacing the field back to green, and even a few accident avoidance courses throughout the race. We are very proud of his effort this weekend!

📍Kokomo Quarter Midget Club

Our rookie quarter midget season began March 29 at rookie day orientation, followed by opening weekend on April 18th and 19th. The first day had its own battles but he learned some basics and got comfortable in the car. The second day he came out as a whole new driver. He took a third place finish in his heat race and then drove from 3rd to 1st to get his first ever feature win! 🏁

We are so proud of his performance on track and his willingness to listen and consume the information that is given to him by Halen and also by the track officials who have been awesome. We are excited for the rest of the season. Our next outting will be on Friday May 15th under the lights, followed by a day time race day the following day. We hope to see you there!

‼️ Page Update ‼️

2026 looks a bit different for us this year. Koven has begun his open wheel adventures. Dad isn’t ready to hang up his wheel just yet but the main focus this year will be on Koven and his quarter midget. We have updated the page and will keep everyone updated with both of our on track activities. More cars and more racing also comes with even more costs; if you or someone you know may be interested in helping a young racer get a solid start to his career we would love a chance to create a partnership. We are just another small family ran team trying to have fun and stay competitive in the sport that we love. No amount of help is too big or too small.

The season is already off to a good start, and I will make a separate post shortly on what all Koven has gotten to experience so far. We are looking forward to the rest of the year and hope to see you guys at the track soon!

Heat Race: 4th to 4th

Feature: 14th to 12th

Been a while since we’ve been out to the track. Not quite the results we aim for, but not a bad night out with the new motor. Got some bugs worked out and made a little speed. Saw some friends we hadn’t seen in a while and enjoyed some family time out at the track. Between life and work we aren’t sure when we will be back out again next, but we hope to be back out soon!

Feature: 7th to 5th

After a ton of rain, they managed to get us a show in. Track was pretty rough and there wasn’t a lot of passing but we managed to go forward in both races and had some fun working a tough track. Props to the track and their crew for their efforts and getting the show in.

Miami County Raceway

Heat: 6th to 2nd
Feature: 2nd to 4th

After a strong heat race, we started off outside the front row of the feature. Driver missed the line in the first corner and politely gave the lead to our fellow Sawyer teammate who lead the rest of the race and won. 😅 We were a third/fourth place car but we were able to race side by side with the leaders for part of the race, just didn’t have quite enough speed to get around them. It was a good night and we continue to make steps in the right direction. It was great to have the Miller Property Improvement crew there to hang out for the night. We will see everyone again in a few weeks.

Miami County Raceway

Heat: 6th to 3rd

Feature: Started 6th, DNF

First night back out in a while. 23 wings checked in! Made a charge in the heat race, and lost brakes while battling for second. Got it fixed just in time to roll out, but ran out of time to get some other things prepared and ultimately decided to pull off. We will try again in a few weeks!

Opening Night of the 2024 season!
It was a cold one, but a good first outing. Got some stuff worked out with the car, and had some speed. We will keep working and improving as the year goes on!

We are just over a month away from test and tune day. This is our tentative racing schedule for the 2024 year. We will be running for points at Miami County Raceway. We will also run a couple of additional shows at other tracks, schedule and budget permitting. We are excited to get the season underway and hope to see everyone soon.

As we prepare for the 2024 race season, there are a few things we are still trying to work out and make possible before we hit the track. Prices continue to go up on everything, and we are doing the best to continue to be able to be competitive on the track. If you or someone you know might have interest in a partnership to get your name on the race car, please feel free to reach out to me.

One of the biggest purchases we need to make is a new racing suit; one of our amazing supporters has committed to half of the cost if we can find someone to match the other half. This would get your name on the side of the race car as well as on the new suit. This could be a great chance for you to get your name or local business some exposure around the area.

Our 2024 plan is to race Miami County Speedway for the wing class points. It is located in Peru, Indiana. We also plan to make occasional trips to US24 Speedway in Logansport, Indiana as well as a couple race tracks in Illinois. This could be a great chance to get your name out to some new potential customers, and create a long lasting partnership with our race team. In times like these, every little bit helps us to continue to be able to do what we love. If you have any questions, I would love a chance to answer them. Feel free to share this post away, you never know who might be willing to support us!
