We all experience special relationships with our horses.
One of the sad facts is that - at some point - we have to say good-bye.
Three of the long-time Diamond TR horses crossed the Rainbow Bridge today: Chance, B***e and Foxy.
Chance was a rescue-of-sorts, purchased by a past boarder from someone who was about to send him to auction. He then became a lesson horse and a lease horse, most recently leased to Roger. He had a happy life here, trail-riding and getting lots of attention. We aren't sure how old Chance was - our best guess is around 30 years old.
Foxy - little, pesky, and full of himself - was around 2 months old when we got him and his mother Star. Foxy loved being a lesson pony, loved his kids and the attention he got from them. He was an excellent teacher for the kids and taught many. In his later years, Jane got him a cart and he learned to be driven. Always full of mischief and wanting attention, he was the little Fox to the end. Foxy was 28 years old.
B***e was born at the Diamond TR. She was the foal of Theresa's first horse, Satari. Her full brother, Raj, spends his time in the gelding pasture. B***e (short for B***erina Princess) was always prim, proper and full of herself and sass. She was the daughter of the original herd mare and she knew it. Unfortunately, being a grey, she developed multiple melanomas, including internally. She was 20 years old.
Carrie and I decided today that we are going to begin a bulb-planting project on the horses' graves. So, in the future years, when you see patches of daffodils, irises, and other flowers around the edge of the mares' pasture, you know it is the spirit of the horses continuing to bring joy.
Chance, Foxy and B***e - we will miss you!
Everyone be sure you hug your horse every chance you get!
Thank you for being part of our Diamond TR Family!
