Please consider Prop. KIDS and what it means for PVA.
This post is not about politics and is no way intended to be. It’s just a concern that we as a volleyball community have for the future of what we are trying to do for our athletes in the entire community.
It’s not about public school versus private school.
It’s about our athletes, in particular volleyball players, and our needs to make us successful in this community.
On this side of things, trying to keep club volleyball at a budget that is doable for more people we have had to stretch every dollar, rely on other community around us, all while trying to figure out the best way to support our athletes.
We just ask that you please consider what prop kids might mean for the community and not just the public school.
In the past, we had the ability to host anywhere from 20 to 28 tournaments during a club season right here in Perryville.
It meant less travel cost for our parents. It meant no admission fees to come watch children or grandchildren play.
It meant more practices could be held right here at the school, which kept our cost down for club fees. It also meant that kids and coaches were not struggling to find a practice time.
The past two seasons, we have been graciously offered opportunities to host our tournaments in other locations, but what that means is that it takes revenue from the community. It means less guests that buy our gas. It certainly means less restaurants that get eaten at because business is going elsewhere.
It means that our kids are not playing in Perryville.
This season alone we have 15 teams. An average of 8 to 10 kids per team. We have 22 coaches.
Please just consider the impact that this proposal could have on the community and not just the school in this regard.
