Kenkojuku in the US has a rich history from the early adopters who practiced karate-do decades ago when there was not a dojo on every corner.

We honor their journey by continuing to practice and pass along Kenkojuku to generations that follow

HISTORY: Williams began his training in karate under Joseph Butrim Sensei in 1968. Wayne Williams was promoted to Shodan in 1968; Nidan in 1971 and San Dan in 1980. Wayne assisted in teaching under Butrim Sensei in the Baltimore, Washington, DC Area. After Butrim Sensei left Maryland Wayne continued to teach and train students until his health failed him. He developed Myeloma in 2011 and passed away 2021. His San Dan Rank was recognized by ASKKA and the Hombu in Japan in 2013.

Armando Comacho Sensei passed away December 2, 2018. We are all saddened by this. Comacho Sensei was one of the most senior Shotokan-Kenkojuku Karateka in America. During the late 1950's, he trained in the Shotokan-Kenkojuku Honbu Dojo under Tomosaburo Okano Soke while serving in the US Military in Japan. Upon returning to America, he trained under Takashi Akusawa Sensei into the 1970's and later taught karate in Miami, Florida. He lived in Miami, Florida USA.
