Since it's inception, the mission of Perry Golf & Country Club is to provide a family-centric social club for the citizens of Perry and the surrounding area. Sara Shade Records Hole-in-One at Perry Golf and Country Club

PERRY, OK – August 2026 – Seventeen-year-old Sara Shade of Perry, Oklahoma, recorded her first hole-in-one at Perry Golf and Country Club. She was playing alongside her father, Danny Shade, and his Masonic brothers, Z Thomas and Jim Case, when she aced the 8th hole, sponsored by Exchange Bank, from approximately 128 yards with a 7 iron.

After what she described as a rough day on the course, Sara approached the 8th tee box and noticed a pink Breast Cancer Awareness tee lying on the ground. She picked it up, thinking it might bring her some luck. The swing was smooth and felt good, but when she went to find her golf ball, it was nowhere to be found. The group continued searching until her father finally suggested she check the hole. To everyone’s surprise and elation, that’s exactly where it was!

The lucky tee added another unexpected twist to the moment. After the shot, Sara and the group went back to look for it but, despite searching for quite some time, they were never able to find it again. Sara said the tee seemed to have appeared at just the right moment — and disappeared just as mysteriously.

Sara said she will never forget the absolute pandemonium that erupted from her dad and his Masonic brothers following her discovery. She ranks the hole-in-one among the top two accomplishments of her life so far. Sara was introduced to the game by her father in the seventh grade, when she also joined the Perry High School Girls Golf Team.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Exchange Bank’s hole-in-one sponsorship at Perry Golf and Country Club. The bank offers a $500 reward for a qualifying hole-in-one on its sponsored holes, with $250 awarded to the golfer and $250 donated to Alzheimer’s research. The tradition was established by Chuck and Zack Hall in honor of their late father, George Hall. Adding to the significance of this year’s anniversary, Zack’s son and George’s grandson, Mason Hall, joined Exchange Bank this summer as an intern, continuing the family’s banking tradition as a fourth-generation banker.

Sara’s win, however, came with a special twist. Because the rules require the golfer to be at least 21 years old to receive the $250 player portion, she asked that her share also be donated to Alzheimer’s research. As a result, Exchange Bank donated the entire $500 in memory of Sara’s great-grandmother, Donna Ward, who passed away three years ago from Alzheimer’s disease.

“We couldn’t be more proud of our latest hole-in-one winner!” said Zack Hall, CEO of Exchange Bank. “Sara is an awesome young player who has a lifetime of great accomplishments ahead. I think it’s so cool that she insisted on honoring her great-grandmother with her contribution to Alzheimer’s research. Way to go!”

Perry Golf and Country Club is a 9-hole course played from two different tees to complete 18 holes.

Past winners of the bank’s gift include Jerry Kothe, Gene Bollinger, Marvin Dement, Jim Mathews, Don Betchan, Leonard Hollander, Les Justus (2018 & 2023), Cruz Conneywerdy, Travis Brorsen, Helen Fuller, Chad Scott, Beverly Crowe and Trey Ingram.
