ERV BRAUN’S MX ONE “AMATEUR NATIONAL” MOVES 2500 MILES TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA! ERV BRAUN, the voice of Supercross and president of BRAUN ENTERTAINMENT, has announced plans to produce their first amateur motocross event in Southern California, titled THE MX ONE. The inaugural MX ONE was held at Durhamtown, Georgia in February of 2012, but was devastated by torrential weather. MX ONE was created to
migrate to different racetracks annually, similar to what Suzuki did when they promoted the RM Cup events at numerous venues. The second running of THE MX ONE is scheduled for the last six days of 2013 at Perris Raceway, Perris, California. The nationally formatted event will have an early move-in date Thursday (Dec 26), when Perris Raceway will open its gates at 2PM, for early arrivals. THE MX ONE will begin Saturday (Dec 28), and will have a full practice in the morning with racing starting in the afternoon. All racers must be signed in and practice no later than Saturday morning to be entered in the event. Racing is scheduled to run through Tuesday (Dec 31) or until the completion. The closest amateur, national, motocross event to California that Braun Entertainment currently produces, is THE AMATEUR OPEN OF MOTOCROSS in Phoenix, Arizona. This year “THE AMATEUR OPEN celebrates its 10th anniversary at The Arizona Cycle Park, the first week of December. Braun stated; “For more than three decades, we have produced motorcycle racing events and musical shows throughout the United States, but we are really ‘super-pumped’ to be coming to Southern California and developing a motocross event at the legendary Perris Raceway in Perris California. Southern California has always been the ‘hub’ of the motocross industry, and Perris Raceway has been a nucleus of MX racing, since 1958.”
As to how THE MX ONE made the transition from Georgia to California, Braun said; “First of all I want to say Durhamtown is the greatest off-road riding area in the world. We love riding there, and we promote several events there. However, during the early winter months we spend a lot of time in the Southwest. Perris Raceway owner Jimmy Sloan, and pro racing son Jaisaac, are personal friends. The Sloans have always been strong supporters of our Amateur Open event in Phoenix, and were totally committed to attending the inaugural 2012 MX ONE in Georgia. Several years ago our family and the Sloans talked of producing an amateur, motocross event on a National level. With The Sloans taking over the Perris Raceway, and THE MX ONE having more of a west coast style format, it was the perfect opportunity to bring THE MX ONE to Southern California.”
Braun added; “There are a huge number of out-of-state motocross racers that migrate to Southern California every winter to practice, train, and test their skills against the local fast guys. Many of the racers don’t have the funding to race all season in California. From the feedback we’re already receiving, the racers and their families are excited over one big event, at one facility. THE MX ONE will kick off the Southern California winter race season similar to the way the Winter Olympics start off Florida’s winter season. A national-style, amateur, motocross event was the only element missing in Southern California and we plan to fill that void.”
Braun concluded; “THE MX ONE time slot is spot-on. School’s out for vacation! ...... A New Year is hours away! ……The Anaheim opening round of Supercross starts 4 days afterward! ……WHAT’S MISSING?”
