It’s truly heartbreaking to watch this mama share her story. You can feel how deeply she wants others to hear and understand what can happen 💔
Drowning is not something that only happens to “other” families. It’s quick, silent, and can happen to anyone—especially without a strong water safety plan in place.
An effective plan includes multiple layers:
• Constant, attentive supervision
• Physical barriers
• Alarms
• Water safety skills
• CPR
No single layer is enough on its own—but together, they create protection. If one fails, the others are there to help.
And a gentle but important reminder: not all swim lessons build the kind of skills a child can rely on in an emergency. True water safety means a child can independently perform skills like floating and recovering to breathe—without assistance.
This is a hard topic, but awareness matters. Taking steps now can make all the difference.
If this has been on your mind, I’m here if you want to talk more about ISR Self-Rescue® lessons. I have a few openings remaining for my May 18th Devens, MA session. 💙
