✍️Dear NYS Parents,

🚨Good sportsmanship in children begins with reinforcing the golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. Beyond that, there are many important lessons to keep in mind when teaching kids how to behave in sports and competition.🚨🤝

Practicing good sportsmanship during games helps everyone grow and reach their full potential. One helpful approach is to reframe how kids view their opponents. For example, you might remind them that their competitors could easily be their teammates if they lived nearby. 🫂🏐🏈🏀⚾📣⚽

This perspective encourages empathy while still allowing room for healthy competition. Let them know that while it’s great to be competitive, showing respect for others always matters just as much.😁👍

Youth sports should be fun, and if they aren’t… what are we even doing?🤯

Teach them hard work, absolutely.👏
Teach them to be coachable... yes, please.👏
Teach them that chasing their dreams will require extra effort and dedication, of course.👏

Success will come in time, but only if fun comes now. 😎⚾🏐🏈🏀⚽
Because if kids don’t fall in love with the game, they won’t stay long enough to chase greatness. 🏆🏅

🎉TGIF EVERYONE!!🎉
✨Just wanted to give a quick shoutout for coaches for NYS.✨

Our youth sports coaches are volunteers.
They’re not paid. They’re not doing it for personal gain.
They show up because they care.😇

These coaches give their time and energy to help kids grow. Not just as athletes, but as people. Yes, they teach the game, but they also teach grit, sportsmanship, and work ethic. 💪

They celebrate the small wins, encourage from the sidelines, and support kids through challenges. They invest their limited free time to make each player’s experience better. ⚽🏀🏐🏈⚾📣🏅🏆

They want kids to improve, but more importantly, to enjoy the game and build confidence along the way. 😊👍

So when frustration comes.. as it sometimes will, remember:
✅They’re doing their best.
✅They’re making the best decisions they can.
✅They believe in your child.

And they care more than you may realize. Show love to your coaches today.🫶
