Congratulations to Bret Williams on being named 2026 PML 2nd Team All-Metro Designated Hitter!

Bret put together another strong season for the North Peoria Yankees and earned recognition as one of the league’s top hitters at the DH position.

⚾ THE YANKEES HAVE THEIR FIRST OFFSEASON SIGNING ⚾

The North Peoria Yankees are excited to announce the signing of former East Bluff Legends catcher Alex Gutierrez.

Known for his big bat and leadership behind the plate, Gutierrez brings a proven track record of production to the Yankees lineup.

During the 2023 and 2024 seasons with the Legends:

🔥 .481 batting average — 50-for-104
💥 18 extra-base hits
👀 37 walks
⚔️ Just 17 strikeouts

That’s a 2.18 walk-to-strikeout ratio over those two seasons.

Now, Gutierrez brings that production and experience to North Peoria.

The Yankees are building for 2027, and this is just the beginning.

With 4 wins this season, Josh Barnes has tied the North Peoria Yankees single-season franchise record for wins by a pitcher.

⚾ Regular Season Complete. Now It’s Time for the Playoffs. ⚾

The North Peoria Yankees finish the 2026 Peoria Metropolitan League regular season with a 9-11 record, earning a 4th-place finish in the eight-team league.

The regular season had its highs, its lows, and plenty of lessons along the way. We welcomed new players, watched veterans step up, and continued building the culture that defines Yankees baseball.

But none of that matters now.

The record resets.

It’s playoff baseball.

We’re thankful for everyone who has supported us throughout the season, especially our families, fans, and our season sponsor, Schooners, whose support made another summer of Yankees baseball possible.

⚾ Yankees Drop Pair to Cornhuskers in Season Opener ⚾

The North Peoria Yankees opened the 2026 season Sunday with a pair of tough losses to the Fulton County Cornhuskers, falling 12-10 in game one and 6-2 in game two.

Game one turned into an offensive battle, highlighted by a huge day from Bret Williams. Williams went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and a grand slam, driving in 4 runs and scoring once for the Yankees.

Kristian Swanson also delivered a big swing in the opener, launching a 2-run homer as the Yankees fought back throughout the game.

In game two, the Yankees bats cooled off, but Will Unsimig stayed productive at the plate, collecting 2 hits in 3 at-bats.

Joe Rusch battled on the mound in the second game, throwing 6 innings while allowing 5 runs and striking out 6 in the loss.

The Yankees will look to regroup and bounce back next weekend as the 2026 PML season rolls on.
