I don’t want to create athletes who can only perform when someone tells them exactly what to do.

I want to develop athletes who understand their bodies, trust their preparation, respond to challenges, and have the confidence to make decisions for themselves.

Of course, we work on mechanics, strength, and measurable progress. But those things are part of a much bigger picture.

The goal is development that lasts long after an athlete leaves a lesson or training session.

LIVE LIKE CHRIST

Ephesians 4:26-32

Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need. 29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Paul reminds us that following Jesus should change the way we treat others. Instead of taking from people, we should look for ways to serve and give. Instead of using our words to tear others down, we should use them to encourage and build others up. Instead of holding onto anger, bitterness, or resentment, we are called to be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving. Why? Because God has shown us that same grace through Christ. We have been forgiven so that we can extend forgiveness, and we have been shown love so that we can show love to others. Following Jesus isn’t just about what we believe; it’s about how that belief changes the way we live every day.

Are your words and actions building others up or tearing them down?
Is there someone you need to show kindness or forgiveness to this week?

Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart… But that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:17–24

Paul reminds us that following Jesus means we don’t have to keep living the way we used to. He tells us to put off our old self, be renewed in our minds, and put on our new self—one that reflects God. This means recognizing the thoughts, attitudes, habits, and choices that pull our attention away from God and choosing instead to let His truth shape the way we think and live. What is something you may need to “put off” in your life, and what could you “put on” instead?

What is one thing you want to intentionally “put on” this week?
