Growing Into Maturity

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.
Ephesians 4:11-14

God doesn’t call us to simply believe in Him and stay where we are. He calls us to grow. Ephesians 4 reminds us that the goal of our faith is maturity—to become more and more like Christ. Just as a child is still developing and learning, we can’t expect to remain spiritually unchanged. The more we grow in our knowledge of Jesus, the more grounded we become, so we aren’t easily influenced by every opinion, trend, or circumstance around us. Spiritual maturity means becoming so rooted in Christ that we know who He is, know what He says, and can recognize what doesn’t align with Him. Growth takes intentionality, community, and a willingness to continually let God shape us.

Reflection Questions:
What voices or influences tend to “toss you to and fro” or pull you away from what you know is true?

How can the people around you help you grow—and how can you help build them up in their faith?

Unity in Christ

There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore it says,
“When he ascended on high he led a host of captives,
and he gave gifts to men.
Ephesians 4:4-8

This passage reminds us that although we each have different gifts, personalities, roles, and experiences, we are united by the same God, the same faith, and the same hope. Unity doesn’t mean we are all the same—it means we recognize that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. God intentionally gives each of us different gifts, and those differences are meant to work together rather than divide us. Our goal isn’t to compete with one another, but to use what God has given us to strengthen the body of Christ.

Reflection Questions:
Where do you see differences between yourself and the people around you, and how could those differences actually strengthen your community?

What gift has God given you that you can use to encourage, serve, or build up someone else?

Is there an area where you’ve allowed differences to create division instead of choosing unity?

Week 15: For God’s Glory

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21

We all have dreams for our lives—goals we hope to reach, prayers we long to see answered, and plans we work hard to accomplish. But Ephesians reminds us that God is able to do far more abundantly than anything we could ask or even imagine. His plans are not just bigger than ours; they are better. That doesn’t mean His timing or His path will always match what we envisioned, but it does mean we can trust that He is working for His glory and our good. As we follow Him, we can hold our own plans with open hands, knowing that the Author of our story sees what we cannot. When we look back and see His faithfulness, may our response always be the same: to give Him the glory for all He has done and all He will continue to do.

Discussion Questions:
Is there an area of your life where you’re struggling to trust God’s plan over your own? What makes that difficult?

Looking back, can you think of a time when God’s plan turned out better than what you originally wanted? How did that strengthen your faith?

What does it look like in your daily life to give God the glory instead of taking credit for what He is doing?
