After work Labor Day Flight, 7 September 2026

Monday, 7 September 2026 - A quick after-work flight this evening with a storm literally just a few miles away. It looked like the storm was moving away from us, so I decided to get a couple of test flights in with my Eflite F-4J Phantom 80mm.

The Avian ESC was a success. Everything performed as expected; I just need to make a few adjustments to the telemetry alerts.

For the battery testing, I definitely prefer flying the Phantom with a 4,000mAh pack over the 5,000mAh. Next, I’ll try the 3,200mAh battery as recommended by the Modfather, along with the SMC HCL 4,400mAh.

The storm continued moving away, but the crosswinds were a little stronger than I would have preferred. Even with the wind, it was still a successful test flight.

Another flight in the books, and more testing to come!

Bonus Flights — Friday, August 4, 2026

A few bonus flights from Friday with the Freewing F-22A Raptor (05) 90mm V2. There’s always something special about getting out to the field and flying with like-minded people who share the same passion for RC aviation.

Of course, it’s even better when everyone remembers we’re there to fly—not just hangar flying! 😉✈️

Saturday, 5 September 2026 - Today had to be one of the hottest, if not the most humid, days we've had all year! 🥵

I really wanted to bring out one of our biggest planes, the FMS SU-27 Flanker,but with the heat and humidity, we decided this was going to be a short trip. Thankfully, we only live about five minutes from the field, so if things got too hot, we weren't far from home!

The main reason I wanted to fly the SU-27 was because I recently upgraded the receiver and added battery telemetry. The test went great—everything worked exactly as expected. 👍

Well... almost everything.

The only problem is that this plane has the efficiency of a LADA truck! 😂

I also brought out Freewing F-22A Raptor (5) 90mm V2, and as usual, the Raptor did not disappoint. She flew great!

What did disappoint was our camera equipment. Since switching our recording settings to 4K at 60 FPS, our cameras have been overheating much more frequently. Apparently, they're not quite as enthusiastic about the Florida heat as we are! 📹🔥

As for the crowd, there were only a couple of diehard pilots brave enough to face the heat. Most decided to stay home—which, honestly, may not have been a bad idea.

Nope... not really! 😂

Friday, 4 September 2026 - More favorable conditions made for a great day to get reacquainted with the Freewing F/A-18C Blue Angels Hornet 90mm. Other pilots took this opportunity to get in a few maiden flights.
