I haven’t posted much for a while, but wanted to mention the event that the Equine Industry Coalition put on this last Saturday at Flying Change Farm.
Three of the Supervisor Candidates for Placer County came to Flying Change Farm and spoke to a good turnout of about 60 people.
Jim Holmes, Suzanne Jones and Antony DeMettei all spoke about their background and experience and then took a myriad of questions from the audience.
I was particularly impressed with the range of knowledge all three demonstrated. Questions varied from zoning and agri-tourism to whether we could divide trail riding time up between horses and bikers.
In every case the candidates knew what the situation referred to and in many cases could site the specific zoning or policy that was used.
They were confident and friendly and surprisingly upfront with the costs and efforts it took to get elected.
One of the points that came across strongly from all the candidates was how important local politics is and how much affects each of our lives on a daily basis.
