We know Medicare beneficiaries often receive a mountain of mail, and it can be tempting to set it aside. But in the coming months, be sure to pull out and review a few important Medicare documents that can help you prepare for Medicare's Fall Open Enrollment period.

โœ… Original Medicare: Watch for your Medicare & You handbook, typically mailed in September. It includes information about Medicare benefits and costs for the upcoming year.

โœ… Medicare Advantage or Part D Prescription Drug Plan: Watch for your plan's Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) and Evidence of Coverage (EOC). These documents explain any changes to costs, covered drugs, provider networks, pharmacies, benefits, and coverage rules for next year.

Even if you're happy with your current coverage, plans can change from year to year. Take time to confirm that your providers, pharmacies, and prescription medications will still be covered and that your plan continues to meet your needs. Reviewing these notices now can help you get ready for Medicare Open Enrollment, which runs from October 15 through December 7.

Need help reviewing your options? Your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) offers unbiased Medicare counseling and can help you compare plans and understand your coverage choices at no cost to you.

๐Ÿ‘€ Word on the street is that these are starting to hit mailboxes locally this week! Keep an eye out for yours and make sure to review it thoroughly.

โœ… Remember, if you are satisfied with your plan and the changes being made for the new year, you don't have to do ANYTHING! The plan will just roll into the new year, no enrollment needed!

๐Ÿ“†Our appointment books do not open until 10/1/2026, but you can call now to request a 2027 Yates County Medicare Reference Guide be mailed to you on 10/15/2026 or sign up for a presentation!

Fall Open Enrollment is just around the corner. By September 30, Medicare Advantage and Part D plans should send members an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) and an Evidence of Coverage (EOC).

These documents explain important changes to costs, provider networks, and prescription drug coverage for the upcoming plan year. Understanding these notices can help people with Medicare make informed coverage decisions during Open Enrollment.
