This is something that popped up from 3 years ago.

I had a chance to talk to one of the Modified kids last night that was a little down on himself for not having the "at-bats" he was hoping for. I tried to explain to him that one at bat doesn't make you the player you are. Neither does one play in the outfield. It's how you handle them, good or bad, that defines the type of player you are. It's fine to get frustrated when the pitcher twists you up early, on an off speed pitch, and sits you back on the bench. How you react to it is what is most important. Same goes for a botched catch, or the infamous "hole in my glove" grounder. What matters is how you rebound. You can't let it get to you. It's either one play or one pitch. If the guy in the picture let this strikeout get to him, he wouldn't have had the chance to hit that beautiful game-ending single down the left field line. Get mad at yourself if you want, but snap back before that next pitch. It's all reset then. You love this game. Remember that. (By the way... Nice game winning steal last night 😉)

Go Brady!

Baseball has always been instilled in Brady Bouchard since he was born. Baseball is a family game for the Bouchard’s, which pushed Brady to pursue the game growing up. When he reached the high school level, Bouchard realized focused in on the game.

Bouchard was both a position player and pitcher, playing shortstop growing up. As he progressed as a pitcher, Bouchard transitioned strictly to pitching as he reached the college level.

In his time at Binghamton University, the Bearcats won back-to-back America East Conference Tournaments, allowing Bouchard to pitch in two Regional Tournaments, facing Georgia in 2025 and Wake Forest this past spring.

“Both of those environments were insane,” Bouchard said. “The most recent regional was the elimination game against Wake (Wake Forest). That game, even with Wake not being the home team, there was still just a ton of people, you can't really beat it, especially the adrenaline you get, just standing on the mound is different.”

After appearing in the NCAA Regional this spring, Bouchard returned to Mystic for his second season with the Schooners.

“I was looking forward to it, especially when I heard [Pitching Coach] Bud was coming back. I really enjoyed Bud last year, and I learned a lot going into the fall,” Bouchard said.

For Bouchard, coming to Mystic has helped with his mentality while on the mound, which has allowed him to find great success as a starter with the Schooners. This summer, Bouchard has pitched to a 2.19 ERA across 24.2 innings pitched, posting a sub-one WHIP.

“Mentality, that's actually been something I've been working on, figuring out what I need to really think about mindset wise when I go out and start,” Bouchard said. “It's kind of been just go with Bud and everything, just go hitter by hitter just attack inning by inning. “Don't try to do too much at once.”

We will be spraying the ball field a at Elm St Sports Complex July 8th or July 9th depending on the weather. Once sprayed cones will be placed closing the field. The field cannot be used for 24 hours after spraying. If you have any questions please feel free to contact our office at 315-536-5866.

What a night! Thank you to everyone who played and supported last night at the Alumni Game. A great competitive game and a great time.
