Hey my riding friends!
This weather is HOT.
Please please please make sure you bring water!
I’m working on getting us a refrigerator out here (they break every year because of the dust in the barn) so coolers are more than welcomed here!
Friendly reminder that you have to wear some kind of pants. Jeans are more required for rough trail riding. But if you’re only riding for an hour out here you can literally wear anything that covers your legs. The reason being is the saddles will HURT and rub the skin and the student can’t focus on their seat.
Another friendly reminder for my newbies is no sneakers for riding! You can literally have any kind of boot. Leather is recommended because it protects your toes from when horses step on them which happens A LOT!
But if it’s a thicker material, I’m not picky! It has to be something that has some kind of heel that prevents the foot from slipping into the stirrup and it has to be something that goes up the ankle a little bit.
If you don’t have boots just let me know! I have some kids boots and adult boots so I may have something you can use for the time being.
Also you are not required to buy your own helmet HOWEVER!!!! When we start getting into horse shows and trail riding off site it’s much easier for everyone for you to have your own helmet.
Again I KNOW how expensive they are especially when your child is growing.
BUT
Sometimes I run out of the correct size
Sometimes kid’s accidentally leave home with them
Sometimes people are grossed out from the sweat of others
And there’s always the risk of lice.
So! Just look out on marketplace for lightly used ones and let me look at them to check for cracks before we use them.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk! Happy riding!!!! Lol
