We all have an origination story that brought us together.

For me, it was finding a fitness routine that wouldn’t stress out my adrenal gland that led me to help other women. A stay at home mom that was desperate for community. An owner of a daycare needing to leave the toxic figure competition world. A physical therapist building this business to be home with her kids. A teacher that NEEDED a second stream of income.

Eleven years ago, we lost this beautiful soul that was my brother.

My therapist helped me process his loss many years later and explained, “The loss of your brother created the imbalance in your life. He was your partner on the seesaw and now that he's gone, you're sitting on the seesaw without him there and that creates the imbalance. He was always there, whether near or far, but he was always there to keep the seesaw in motion." My sibling seesaw would forever be motionless.

It still feels like I’m missing a puzzle piece in my heart and, sometimes, still sitting on that imaginary seesaw. His loss is not easier today, it’s more like I’ve grown accustomed to this feeling. I know he’s with my mom now. I know with a 100% certainty he was there to receive her. While I’d rather have them both here, there is peace in knowing that.

Love you and miss you like crazy Markie.

Our home was in foreclosure. We had two cars repossessed and were sharing a car my father in law gave us. We were eating mac and cheese, hot dogs, rice and beans, sandwiches and anything my mom would bring by.

We were a two income family and were scraping by, only paying what we needed to live- electricity, water and gas. It was a challenging time but we got ourselves back on our feet, saved our home and stopped eating hot dogs for awhile. 😉

But, about 4 years later, a wrench was thrown our way.

On January 17, 2014 Vinnie cornered me in kitchen and said, “I don’t know how we’re going to pay the rest of the bills.”The look in his eyes was all too familiar. Fear. Shame. Frustration. I responded with, “We’ll be ok.” And, in that moment, I made the decision to get to work on my coaching business and help others the way I was helped. My goal was to pay for our weekly groceries. That’s it.

I hit the ground running. I had made a DVD sale! It was a small commission check, $29.95, but it was $29.95 more than I had the day before. It was then that I knew that if I could make $29, I could make $290 and more. I was in charge of my paycheck and of the value of my work. As a private school teacher, making less than minimum wage, that was HUGE for me!

Today, my job is to mentor other women to see their worth and show them they have the power to up level their life. There are women on are team who are traveling, are home with their kids, who are creating savings accounts, paying for groceries, paying off credit card debt and so much more. They made the decision and got to work to make it happen.

Tomorrow, our team is hosting a What is Coaching event. I am opening my mentorship group to 5 women who:

🔥understand that it takes daily, consistent work (just like a job) to build this business,
🔥are coachable and will work alongside me and our team,
🔥are independent and know how to find solutions,
🔥are ready to be stretched by sharing your successes, failures, ups and downs because THAT is what inspires others to start.

Today, I finally closed a 15 year chapter… 4 years after leaving the classroom. Let me explain…

When my mom was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer February of 2017, I decided to take a leave of absence to take care of her. We knew it was terminal. I knew I needed to be there for her.

When she passed away one year to the date of diagnosis, my husband and I realized how beneficial it was for me to be at home. So, I Sam rated and stored all of my teaching materials for that “maybe one day I’ll be back.”

But, it hasn’t and, it was time to release that part of me and turn the page on that chapter. It was so bittersweet to donate all of my materials and books, but it was time I released it all in order to fully step into who I am to become. And, I know the brand new teacher receiving the donation will be able to use it all.

He’s home. He’s healthy. He’s fine. And, there is no permanent damage. Thank God.🙌🏼Leave it up to my son, a child of a h...

He’s home. He’s healthy. He’s fine. And, there is no permanent damage. Thank God.🙌🏼

Leave it up to my son, a child of a health and fitness coach, to put his kidneys on overdrive with rhabdomyolysis (rhabdo). The freaking irony is not lost on me. 😅

How’d this happen? Get comfy because Imma get science-y on you. 😉

He went a little too hard, too heavy, too soon at the gym after an 18 month hiatus, with very little hydration. The result: an excess of myoglobin (a protein) was released by the muscles into his system. Too much is toxic, the kidneys can’t filter that much myoglobin fast enough and can go into failure. Fun times. 😑

Needless to say, it’s CRITICAL to pump an insane amount of fluid into the system to force the kidneys to flush it all out. Mikey’s numbers earned him 5 nights at the hospital. 😳😳

We are eternally grateful for the medical care he received and that Vinnie and I could switch out to be there with him. Most importantly, though? He’s ok.

I’m enraged. If you aren’t right now, check your soul and, do me a favor and unfollow me. I’m not your people.

These families are FOREVER changed, forced to live without their child, sister, mother. The pain is beyond my comprehension.

This hits me hard. I taught 4th grade for 13 of my 15 years in the classroom. My class was a safe zone. School MUST be a safe zone.

We must do better. It’s identifying mental health, it’s stricter gun control, it’s finding, punishing and ending black market dealing.

I’m at a loss. Heartbroken. Sickened.

She would have been 77 today. Happy Heavenly Birthday, mami. I love you and miss you so much.
