You’ll want to save this cased caddis info:

This fly is best utilized near the bottom of the water column. Cased caddis are most abundant the weeks and days leaded up to a big caddis hatch. As the hatch get closer, the cased caddis make their to the water’s edge on rocks and logs. If you watch the water line in a river, you will see rows of caddis lining up in preparation for the emerging process. This is when they're most likely to be knocked free by the current or picked off the rocks by hungry trout.

As a trout gets more mature, they need a higher and higher protein diet.

This is part of the reason larger trout are more likely to eat a streamer.

Trout rely on sculpins - the bottom feeders - to supplement their diet in order to maintain their size.

This is a fantastic fly to fish when the water is off color or you have higher flow situations.
