I'm a big fan of carbs. Ready for me to hit you with some cold hard facts about why you need carbs?!
🧠The brain is the only carbohydrate dependent organ in your body. The brain exclusively uses glucose to function.
🥛Some animal products contain carbs. Lactose is a disaccharide, which means it’s a sugar, which means it’s a carb.
🏃🏼‍♀️ Carbohydrates are the only fuel source metabolized fast enough to support hard exercise. For an active person, a low-carb diet would definitely not be a wise choice. With a limited supply of carbohydrates in the body, engaging in hard exercise will result in low energy, muscle fatigue, and even mental fog.
Also carbs are yummy 😂.
I can't decide which are my favorite carbs...bread or potatoes. Which are your favorite?!

🏃🏼‍♀️ RUNNER'S HIGH: AN ADDICTIVE SIDE EFFECT OF RUNNING, A EUPHORIC STATE OF BLISS THAT MAY BE THE REASON THAT RUNNERS RUN.🏃🏼‍♀️
Today I tested out a new strength training/running hybrid program and I shared a bit in my stories (reels of each section still to come!). I got a question about what I take with me on my runs so I thought I would share.
This is usually what I drag along with me on a shorter run like the runs in this program...
1. Running shoes....no matter the distance you are running you need a good pair of shoes. Ones that are fitted to you! If not you might start getting weird aches and pains and if yours are as old and ragged as mine are they will also do the same thing. I love Brooks but there are lots of great options on the market for the best deal use shoekicker.com 😉
2. Socks....again my favorite are brooks but I also use a lot of under armour socks too! Bad socks can lead to blisters.
3. My arm band for my phone...I always have my phone with me for music and for just in case. There are lots of ways to carry it and I prefer my arm band. This one was super cheap on Amazon!
4. Cheap plastic sunglasses....I'm notorious for dropping and losing my running sunglasses so I grab them when they are on clearance at Walmart so it doesn't matter if I ruin them 😂 also don't get the nose piece kind they will get stuck in your hair!
5. Pepper spray...I didn't used to run with this until a girl was murdered on her run less than an hour from my rural Iowa home. Now this thing stays with me just in case. I don't want to be paranoid but I also doing want to be dumb!
6. My ear buds...these are also cheap from Amazon. I used to have beats but I beat them up so bad I decided to try some cheaper ones. These work pretty much the same as my beats did...and they are pink. This particular type stays best in my ears too.
7. My Garmin....it didn't come on my run this morning because well, I forgot about it, but I usually bring this with me because I love tracking my runs! It's definitely not a necessary tool for a program like the one I tested today though.

Did you know I jokingly call my streaming workouts sweatflix?!😂
It's just like Netflix...when you get tired of one thing or finish the entire series you can just pick something new!
Today my brain needed something different than the series (program) I have been doing for the last 9 weeks sooo I changed it up!
That's the secret to my fitness success. I would have given up this life if I was expected to do the same exact workout over and over or if designing my own program was left up to me entirely.
I often forget how lucky I am to have found this system in my 20s and it's grown and adapted to me in my 30s! (Eeek can anyone else believe I turn 32 in 13 days?! )

🥪REUBEN SANDWICH🥪
Our Alma Mater is still playing today (Big 12, K-State) so I decided to make his favorite sandwich. It's healthyish but in my world I focus on the nutrients you DO get! (PS sauerkraut is fermented which means probiotics!!)
Also homemade sweet potato fries are an awesome side commen 🍠 below and I will tag you in that super simple recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
🥖Rye Bread
🥛Butter
🏝️Thousand Island Dressing
🌭Sauerkraut
🥒Pickles
🧀Swiss Cheese
🥩Corned Beef
Directions:
1. Warm your panini press, George Foreman Grill, or pan.
2. Butter your bread.
3. Flip bread over and put all the rest of the ingredients on the sandwich.
4. Grill it up!
5. Enjoy with some homemade fries!

OLD OLD ME: Didn't care about the rules. Never cared what day fall actually started...just went off vibes.
OLD ME: Watching girls become obsessed with things for attention and didn't want to fall into that category so I "shamed" others into waiting until actual fall came.
NEW ME: Going back to the old old me and basing things off vibes!
Moral of the story...you can change your mind. You can be a super duper rule follower or just live off vibes. Don't get so wrapped up in rejecting others that you lose yourself.

💖THAT 'GROW TOGETHER' TYPE OF LOVE💖
Another Holiday weekend in quarentine. So we drove around and stopped at the lake to walk Emmett a bit (until Emmett got scared and demanded...aka almost dragged me to the ground...we get back in the car before I got a photo of us out in nature 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️).
I haven't shared a ton about the changes our relationship has gone through in quarentine....I say in quarentine because even though we are both working Kenny is an essential worker and we choose to keep ourselves quarentined when not at work.
First, let's start with the most obvious change. Kenny has lost 20 pounds. Sure he does my workouts BUT he was motivated by a random youtube video 😂🤦🏼‍♀️.
Second, we both have gotten more serious about growing our minds during all this. Every single morning if you check my stories I share our morning routine. Kenny is always part of it too even if you don't see him.
Next, we have both taken the time to work on making our house somewhere we really like to be. We are stuck inside, it might as well be somewhere we can enjoy.
Last, we have made a lot more goals on the same page. We have always had similar life goals but we both are very independent and have always just done our own thing. NOW, we are both on the same page with our life goals and it's pretty awesome.
Anyways, I think we should all clap 👏👏 for Kenny because he not only worked full-time (9-12 hours a day 5 days a week plus a couple hours from our dining room table most Saturdays) during the pandemic but also managed to change his habits and freaking lose 20 pounds so far!!
PS You also can thank him for making sure you could all get pepperoni pizza during all this 😉 if you didn't know he is an engineer at a pepperoni manufacturing facility😜.
PSS I think they make more than just pepperoni at his plant but the other stuff isn't as fun 😁.

I love big picture and goals and visions...this last part of 2020 I'm determined to fall in love with the process of making the goals and visions come to life. The details...
For the most part I'm not a details girl...and some times it's obvious 😉 which is why I have to break down my entire day into super simple tasks. BUT I'm determined and I WILL do it!!!
