Sometimes when alone at the cabin in the spring doing chores it’s time take a break to catch a rockfish for dinner… and instead a large halibut bites! The fish is too large to safely land in a little skiff so the only option is to motor to the beach with the fish hopefully swimming along, get out and fight the fish up onto shore.

West Chichagof-Yakobi Wilderness Area is a special place and we are thankful for it!

Wilderness Reset was born from the years of experiences that Denny, Jana, and Breanna Corbin have had in the Alaskan Wilderness. They knew that this special place the family lives provides healing and health through abundant and untouched nature. A cozy log cabin nestled between a forest of trees and stunning views of the beautiful waters of Lisianski Inlet provides a space to disconnect from your daily stresses, be present, and experience the feeling of gratitude for the magic of the natural world.

"Intertidal Goats" -- no, not the name of an indie band, but a recent sighting. Rather than sticking to the steep cliffs that would thwart would-be predators, this band of mountain goats came down to the zone of barnacles and mussels. Perhaps to nibble some seaweed. Perhaps exploring ... Nice to see them so well, without craning necks. (Note the little one mid-superman leap.) Also, this helps to show that virtually everything that lives in Glacier Bay spends some time down where the land meets the tides.

Btw: They are looking super shaggy as they shed their old coats to grow new coats for winter. The Tlingit prize that hair for weaving, esp. to make the spectacular Chilkat blankets. NPS Photo/Russ Taylor
